I was having a particularly depressed week and Rem became my outlet, meaning he became a fashion victim to the mindless ramblings of my pen. Poor boy does my heart good. I'll keep to the excuse that my friend Sapphire has a character named Kai, a male model, that tries to get Rem to come out of his shell by throwing him into private photo-shoots. Their interactions are also canon to Rem's story as she has permissed me to use Kai in it, whenever it moves from the drafting stages to be ready for web publication, which will be very far down the road yet. I have other priorities to get through first and much more work to do in it since it is a very long series dealing with touchy subjects and carrying important messages that I need all to be fine-tuned.

Anyways, for those who don't follow my other social medias, I'm going to start selling original artworks at cons as well, not just prints. Most of these are artworks have never been made into prints, so you will own the only physical iteration. :)

This is actually beautiful and skillfully done! He blends in so well in the background that I can hardly see him! But the patterns you drew are accurate and consistent, and have next to perfect negative spaces! Well done~ Pink Heart Icon by Zagittorch   Adorable Girl Anime Emoji (Kawaii Wink) [V6] by Jerikuto

Ah, I'm glad you think he fits in well. He honestly started as a doodle, so I then had to draw the background as a separate idea, which usually makes things look cookie-cutter and imposed onto each other. Glad it worked out as a whole image. ^^

Good you're able to channel your emotions to your work, that's what great artists do.
The penwork on this is so amazing, the crosshatching, the shading, the atmosphere. OuO
You've done an amazing job! I know it isn't your usual style, but would be cool that you tried out this style again, perhaps like a split between your usual colorful style with your penwork's like this.

Thanks! I used to use my artwork as my outlet for a long time until I had a traumatic experience in 2013. Since then, it's been incessantly hard to do artwork because of depression, even as an outlet. That was when I created Rem however (the character in this picture). Around the same time I also made "Baby" and Delfia, my two pink-haired angel girls. Rem is in a way an outlet for my depressed emotions and "Baby" is the hope I have for happiness. They help me cope.

I actually really love working with ink. It was my favorite media for the longest time until I fell in love with Prismacolor colored pencils. You can see some more of my ink value work in my Blood and Sugar comic here (as well as some of my comic strips) :

You know, it's funny you mention it. I just finished a picture a few days ago along the lines of what you describe. I'll upload it next week. :)

I can relate. My OCs are usually colorful and fun as an outlet for my melancholy as well, just making lore and characters all the time and adding to them always makes it fun and wanna make more, they even relate to different parts of me in some way

Yeah, it has a nice hard look in work and makes things a bit alive, I usually have pen as my choice to traditional works and sketches before I scan and clean up. ^^

Oh cool! Would like to see that :D

See, I'm a weirdo. When I do traditional media, it's all traditional media, but when I do digital, it's all digital media. XD I don't do traditional media sketches and then digitally clean them up and color. I just go straight for it like the oddball I am.

Makes sense. Been making pics a lot on my tablet much more for convinience, and doing other things like video editing, memes, and animations. I am really trying to stretch my pallette doing more stuff

That's awesome!! ^^ I love making videos but lack resources to handle it all. Some day~ Currently I'm bogged down with heavy school work. Getting through summer and then this after coming semester I can graduate with my BA.

I only did New Media for the first semester so I no longer have official access to the lab for it. It was super nice using TV Paint in community college though! It was a total dream for animating.
