If all has gone right, you’re reading this on Wednesday. Funny thing though… I’m not here!

That’s right; I’m off partaking in an adventure. (If the world ends tomorrow, that means I’ve failed. Sorry about that.) However, thanks to the many kind people who have donated points and allow me to have a paid account here on DA, and thus have their scheduled update feature, you’re getting your comic update at its scheduled time!

Please extend your thanks to them, they most certainly have mine!

READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING OR CONTINUING READING THE COMIC:

If you read this comic, you understand and agree to the following conditions and warnings:

Discretion is advised. Eldritch is for mature audiences, and will contain violence, gore, and mild nudity, along with adult situations, themes, and language. Some pages will be marked as such on sites such as Deviantart and may be unavailable to minors. The author takes no responsibility for anything unsavory anyone, may think, do or say should a parent or guardian let them read this comic.

The author (SMG Nashoba Hostina ) has everything planned out, and if something does not immediately make sense, it will later. If there are questions about what will happen, answers will not be given until the issues come up in the natural course of the plot. Furthermore, if something is “Wrong” it is often because some mistakes are intentional, to allow the pages of the webcomic and the eventually published version of the comic to be easily distinguished.

In addition, the author has done a lot of work and research and has a lot scripted and planned. This means that ‘requested storylines’ and suggestions have no place in this comic whatsoever. It is the author’s policy to decline all such submissions. This policy is intended to prevent any misunderstandings regarding intellectual property rights.

In short, do NOT send requests, share ideas with, or make suggestions to the author at any time, in print or otherwise.

However, in the event that you ignore what is written above and insist on making requests, suggestions or sharing ideas in any way whatsoever regarding this comic: be aware that in doing so you are giving the artist this idea, along with non-exclusive, royalty and compensation-free rights to utilize, reproduce, sell, disclose, and distribute the suggested content in any form and at any time she sees fit, in the comic or otherwise.

Although, the Author generally tries to avoid being exposed to such unsolicited suggestions, and once a note, conversation, or other means of communication swings that way, she makes all attempts to remove herself from the situation. Please do not be offended should the author not read your letter in its entirety because of this. However, should the author’s content in any way resemble that of a suggestion or other form of content, unless it is credited in the artist’s comments, the similarities are purely coincidental.

Eldritch and all of its specifics are © Nashoba Hostina, and is not in any way Public Domain. Thus, Eldritch is not an “Open Source” world any more so than Star Trek or Lord of the Rings is. However, regarding fanart, fanfiction, and such: The author is always flattered when folks take the time to draw a picture of one of her characters for her. However, if you choose to do fanart, please, make it clear that the characters, world, etcetera are Nashoba Hostina’s creation, and kindly link back here, or to the comic’s blog. Then, whenever you post Fanart of Eldritch, please let the artist know! Under no circumstances should any content derived from or inspired by Eldritch be used for financial or material gain of any sort, or to spread messages of hate in any way. The author reserves the right to insert additional requirements that must be adhered to at any time, both before and after the posting of any such content, and may withdraw permission to use her content at any time. The only places where this comic will be found in its entirety will be its blog: eldritchcomic.blogspot.com/ or here on the author’s deviantart page.

As a courtesy to your fellow readers, please do not make predictions about what will happen in the comments section of these pages. Saying that you think you know what may happen is fine, but actually stating what you think will happen is not. If you happen to be right, that means you’re spoiling the other readers, and no one likes That Spoiler Guy. In a similar vein… be nice to one another, okay guys? Please?

This comic is free for anyone to view, so the author must have a day job to support herself. It takes supplies and LOTS of time to make Eldritch, so she cannot afford to do art all the time. Thus, Eldritch is done on the author’s free time, which means page quality will vary. In addition, updates may be missed if the author has a busy week or becomes ill. Should an update be missed, it will be at least a full week before more content will be posted. The author apologizes for the inconvenience.

The Author is not liable to you, nor to any party claiming through you for any aggrievance real or perceived that you may experience as a result of reading the comic, or these terms and conditions.

The author apologizes for the length of this dreadfully boring disclaimer/ terms of readership. However, making a comic is hazardous and downright scary, and she is just trying to protect herself.

This disclaimer and all prior forms of it are subject to retroactive change.

And, finally… If you don’t like the comic, don’t read it! No one’s forcing you to look at this :3 Go outside and play or something!

Thank you for reading!

I'll mimic the sentiments of the last poster here: OUCH.

Shot full of holes AND skinned alive?  It is a miracle Loren survived.

Didn't know werewolves were /that/ tough. Getting shot by multiple rifle rounds, and not only survived rough handling of a dead body but also skinned? If direct trauma would not snuff her, the sheer physiological and sensory shock of the pain would have. Wonder if the poor girl suffers from PTSD :<

So what happened to the pelt?  Did the blood cells on there regenerate into another werewolf?

...Also, getting skinned alive sounds excruciating, until the nerves are damaged, anyway.

Is the white werewolf white because she was skinned? I know injury can sometimes depigment hair.  Is that what happened to her, or is she naturally white?

This exchange reminds me of the story of the Wise Manager.  When you hear the problems others have gone through, your own seem a bit smaller in comparison.  For all we know, he'd consider being kidnapped halfway around the world by cultists to be worse than being skinned alive!

I suppose it's all a matter of perspective.  Personally, I wouldn't like either, though I side a little more with Faith.  I like my skin.  On the other hand, kidnapped and imprisoned by cultists?  At least being skinned and mistaken for dead means you're more able to escape, and you won't have to be around those "hunters" for very long.

Oh man, that's terrible. Even with the healing abilities of a werewolf... I've seen some disturbing animal cruelty videos online, and being skinned alive... such excruciating pain I can't even imagine. Really dark mood to this panel; I don't comment often, but just had to this time. Man. After that, he's one tough wolf I wouldn't want to mess with.

Given a werewolf's constitution, what to a hunter would seem like a kill-shot may not actually have killed the werewolf. It could be a simple case of mundane ignorance. Or it could have been vindictive. But that's a story I may or may not tell some other time.

Yeah, it's pretty dark in this one. Years ago when I planned this all out, I had a poorer sense of balance between darkness and humor, and it shows.

I always look forward to your comments, even though I may take a while to get to reply to them. And yeah, I wouldn't want to mess with Loren either.

Wow, being skinned alive :( The fact she lived through it is impressive, although it must have been a pain both physical and psychological. Those rednecks really are bads guys... Just wondering, she was in wolf form at the time right? She couldn't have been between human and wolf without getting their attention. Except if they were drunk, which would fit those ''rednecks''.

I don't get the ''I don't want to burden you with my story'' thing. One's past is not a burden, it's only where you come from, a part of who you are. Confidence isn't a burden, it takes courage to speak about it. A listening ear can make all the difference, it's a thing I learned recently on a bad situation.

Wish you a good adventure! Good luck to us all too haha. Wonder what you'll be up too^^

Yeah, she's been through a lot, poor thing. As for the rednecks... from their point of view, they may not have been bad guys. But from Loren's... yeah, they were awful.

Different people can handle different things. While some people can handle knowing that someone else has been through hell and back, others can't emotionally bear the weight of it. It's all a balancing act, or who can handle knowing what information, who can be trusted with it, who can handle sharing it, and who can bear thinking about it.

Thanks so much! I was up to a great many things :3

Not everyone has the courage to speak about what they've been through. It is sad, and it would help if they could talk about it, but it can take a very long time to pscologically recover from such a traumatic event, sometimes not for years until after the physical scars have healed :(

Agreed, it can be hard to find that courage. A friend of mine didn't find it and hid his sadness. No one knew he felt that way until it was too late sadly :(

Being shot and skin remove is little overkilled for a story. But a story worth hearing and seeing so knowing that others can have a bad day as well.

Overkill? Perhaps. But I'm no master storyteller; I've learned a lot since I first planned this all out and the balance between lightness and humor is askew in this. I just do what I can.

That's a spiffy deviantart feature. And that means that you got the comic done ahead of schedule. Going on an adventure is a great way to celebrate that.

Rather impressive comeback from being skinned. But I'm guess that losing her friends hurt more, especially since her fur grew back. Faith recognizes that what she went through wasn't as bad.

Maybe the people who captured Loren were killing just to kill, but perhaps the hunters who took on Faylen were more respectful. Todd's story suggests that Faylen was more dangerous and thus was hunted. And Loren was just unfortunate to be involved. At the very least, we should now expect that there are many things of that story that aren't true.

*Nods* I had to bust my tail and pretty much get two done in a week and a half.

It's all a matter of perspective... thankfully, werewolves are tough critters.

Well, from Loren's perspective, they may have been. But I never said she was or was not a reliable narrator. As for Faylen... we may learn more of her fate sometime. Or, maybe we won't.

Even so, it probably hurts a werewolf a lot to be skinned.

What? You mean some characters aren't reliable narrators? That you have some characters that might leave out details or deliberately mislead? Shocking ;)

I KNEW IT!!!! (gets yelled at for bragging rights and is told after an hour long lecture to show some respect) Fine Fine, I thought I'd seen her before and when I was strolling through some of your old comic strip pages that were apart of eldritch Lesson's, Thats when I figured it out. When Todd was explaining who the wolves of the woods were you showed a white werewolf along with a human and a black wolf, I knew from that point it was Lorrrren(as Todd says up above) Plus in the pervious strip she says that she grew up there and thats where the Wolves of the Woods originated. (Is about to say something but is Interrupted by someone yelling at him not to go on), I think thats enough for now, don't want to get yelled at again :D. HOPE YOU AND EVERY ONE ELSE ON THESE COMMENTS HAS A LOVELY DAY, WEEKEND, OR WHATEVER THERE HAVING :D!!
