How does your mum feel about rock music in general? Im asking because its probably my favoirite genre. I love classic rock like Bon Jovi before the lead singer moved to country. Queen is quite good too.
She generally likes it! She loves music by George Thorogood (The guy behind 'bad to the bone'), John Fogerty, and then country music and so-on.

I'm not a fan of metal personally. But some of it is kinda good. I have a brother who is really into it.

Yeahhh no worries, it can be very hard to find the good stuff! Most of it tries too hard and becomes a scream-fest like old hair metal, or just someone smacking drums and screaming like they swallowed a bucket of hot gravel. lol
