Tohora the Whale
Long ago, on the Island of Atua, the islanders lived peacefully on their lush paradise, depending on the ocean. They collected many fish in the shallow waters.
One day, a fierce storm brewed unexpectedly. Monstrous waves threatened to wash away everything in their path.
As the villagers scrambled to find safety, a gigantic whale named Tohora appeared from the depths. Unlike ordinary whales, Tohora was a gentle guardian, ancient and wise, with a heart full of compassion for those who called the ocean their home.
Witnessing the villagers in danger, Tohora opened her massive mouth and beckoned them inside, one by one. The villagers hesitated at first, but they trusted the whale’s kindness. Inside Tohora’s mouth, they found a safe, warm refuge, shielded from the raging storm outside.
Tohora carried the villagers through the turbulent waters, away from the destructive waves. As they traveled, the islanders huddled together for protection.
