Okay I do NOT like having my laptop display my email address (along with my name) on the screen for 10 + seconds.
Cortana needs to be able to be uninstalled/removed, beyond that you also need to be able to choose if you want updates installed or not.
Since I can't deal with the first two I can give my fellow windows Ten users some relief.
Cortana uses 23.2 Megabytes of memory even when she's not turned on in the start menu!
It's not a lot, but every little bit helps.
First: Turn off Cortana the normal way (going into settings and turning off 'get to know me' and the options for Cortana off in the start menu)
Next: Control + Alt + Delete, open task manager.
Next: Scroll Down and find the Cortana process on the main page, right click and choose 'browse to file location'
Next: Double-click the name of the cortana folder (it should automatically select it for you) and rename it '[folder name].old' it will tell you that the files are being used in another program.
Next: Back in the task manager window, right click the Cortana process and end it, now quickly press 'retry' on the renaming of the cortana folder.
Normally if you end the cortana process it simply starts back up again, but with this method it won't be able to find the cortana program to execute it/run it
You can't uninstall/delete Cortana (believe me I've tried) but this is the next best thing!
