Under any normal circumstance, I would see a beautiful guitar that has been altered in some way, which would immediately raise a red flag in my mind. Whether people put decals/stickers on their guitar (this one gets me the most), paint it random colors or buy a neon pink guitar, I think it's damaging or degrading a beautiful instrument, because in five years, the stickers or the bright color will get old, childish, and ugly to the musician, who was likely young when they decided to alter their guitar. So I'm not a fan of custom paint or decals on guitars (especially acoustic).
However, this one caught my eye, and not in a bad way. The amount of painstaking work that went into this is obvious. The attention to details is amazing. I can see myself liking this now, and still liking it in twenty years. The design is such that it looks sophisticated, elegant, with such a beautiful air to it that it looks fun and just all-around appealing to the eye. You've taking a guitar - a beautiful instrument in any form - and poured onto it a stunning piece of artwork that only enhances the natural grain and feel of the guitar.
You have restored my faith in custom guitars, if only until I see the next guitar covered in stickers. And the fact that you did it by burning the wood both hurts me and makes me so much more impressed with your work.
I feel rather out of place with all the one-liner comments saying stuff like "Cool," or "Congrats on the DD," but I couldn't help writing my thoughts. Hopefully you get to read this, because I want to encourage you to keep going. I'm not sure if this is a profession for you or just a hobby, but if you start uploading more like this, feel free to send me a note. If I start seeing this stuff consistently, consider me a watcher.
Thanks for uploading and congrats on the DD!
