Copic Marker Color Chart by nao--ren Copic Marker Color Chart by nao--ren
This is my personal Copic Marker Color Chart.

I own the Copic Sketch and Ciao but not all the available 334 colors (I own 229)
I marked the colors I use most and like a lot with a pink heart because it was requested a few times - so this is my answer ^^ but I think I like a lot more colors than just these.. it was hard to decide :D If you want to buy markers don't buy any of these set - I think they don't fit together well. Start with Copic Ciao they are cheaper and available in 144 colors. The first letters show you the color family. The first number stands for the saturation and the second for how light the marker is within that saturation group.

Please keep in mind that the colors on the monitor look a bit different from the original ones (depending on your settings) and can look on other papers different too. I used "Schoellershammer Markerpaper"

Hope this will help you ^^

If you want to buy markers too you can buy them here (for example USA: - or Germany:

This chart was a huge help in choosing colors...thanks!  I'm wondering if you have ever printed (ink jet printer) a line design/drawing on the Schoellershammer Markerpaper?  I want to do that for coloring.

This is awesome! :D

But…may I ask, if you had to pick one topic marker sketch set with 72 markers, wonld you pick the A, B, C, D, or E set? Thanks!

Thank you. These things are pretty expensive (a few dollars more each here than is average in America) so this will help me choose colours. :3

I'll buy some for Chistmas. Do you think it's necessary to buy the black one?
nao--ren Featured By Owner Nov 28, 2012  Hobbyist Traditional Artist

LilianNogueira Featured By Owner Nov 28, 2012  Student Traditional Artist

Thank you very much, this can be very useful for a quick and easy color picker on SAI or another program  I was also looking into the whole Copic Marker set, so they have over 300? That's really amazing. (^^)

Wow! That's lot of copic markers. It must've took you awhile to collect them. :floating: I'm starting out to buy them yet they are expensive.
Snow-katt Featured By Owner Nov 20, 2011
are those all the greys they have ?
i rarley color but when i do i tend to use grey tones like this here >> [link] (and the overlap and color bleed in that makes me want to either vomit or chomp at the bit ) but copics are shall i put it ? fucking expensive !
so before i take the plunge

if wondering i use pantone markers ( which are dying and pantone discontinued thanks pantone ! )
and letraset promarkers ( which bleed too much )
nao--ren Featured By Owner Nov 21, 2011  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
no, copic has more greys than the one I swatched - I don't own all greys ^^
yes, they are really expensive .___. but really the best ^^

How do you enjoy using marker? I have always been one for colored pencil, but I have really wanted to try my hand at markers and I am to scared! Any tips for a maker beginner?
nao--ren Featured By Owner Oct 12, 2011  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I like to combine markers with colored pencils :)

I think that the right paper is really important for starting with markers. You'll need a really smooth surface like bristol paper or a good bleedproof markerpad otherwise the colors will bleed a lot and will hard to control. An outline will help you at the beginning.

If you want to buy markers you should try to find good color matching/combinations from one color family for blending which is not that easy when you have over 300 colors available ^^;

The best markers for beginners are the Copic Ciao. The are refillable and cheap.

Hope this will help you a bit ^^

whenever i get new mediums, i always make myself a color chart... i dont always trust the labels Dx
nao--ren Featured By Owner Jul 10, 2011  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I also do so. The labels on the marker looks really different from what the color looks on paper :D
Rose-Kira-chan Featured By Owner Jun 14, 2011  Professional Traditional Artist
AWESOME! Did you save up your money to buy the markers?
nao--ren Featured By Owner Jun 14, 2011  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
I bought these markers since 2002 and buy only a few new each year :D I didn't bought them all at once ^^
manda-j-panda Featured By Owner Apr 29, 2011  Student Artist
*sniff!* Too bad I didn't find this till after I bought mine... I bought the copic sketch set c and it has a variety of colors, but not many of the same, so it's kinda hard to find colors that look good for shading and stuff. I'm amazed that you can work so small with the sketch cause the tip is big! Making a color chart is a good idea too, maybe I should make one so I don't have to test all the colors before I use it... ;)

What color would be good for skin :?
I like the skin color on your neo queen serentiy drawing [link] But it looks like there is quite a few different colors for the skin and I can only afford about 2 or 3

Miki-PI Featured By Owner Oct 21, 2010
what woUld yoU use for blond hair
nao--ren Featured By Owner Oct 22, 2010  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
blonde hair is hard to color I think... I whould use something between E50 and Y21/23/32 (but it's a bit reddish/gold I think...)
I'm always mixing a lot because I think there is not really the ONE copic color which is for blondes :D~ I should try it out... (light blond, medium, dark blonde...)
Ardanae Featured By Owner Oct 2, 2010
It just goes to show how much different they can look on screen when you put them all up individually like that. I have a few more colours than you, but basically the same. And like you, I have a bunch that I always favor^^.
