Personal Information

History 
Amalric used to live in Cardreath with his parents and his sister Emira, training to be a cleric like his mother. He spent most of his time with his studies or looking after Emira. The two were very close and like to spend a lot of time exploring out of the town. However, one afternoon his sister decided to go out into the forest alone without telling Amalric and their parents as she wanted to surprise them all.
When Amalric realised she had disappeared, him and other townsfolk went searching for her. They searched for her until the evening, where Amalric found her, to find that she had been mauled and killed by some sort of large animal.
Devastated by the loss of his sister and best friend, Amalric withdrew into his studies and fell into depression, hardly leaving his room and barely talking to anyone besides his parents.
As Amalric got worse, the wishes of his sister coming back turned into the question of "what if there was a way to bring her back?"
From then on, Amalric vowed to bring her back, no matter what the cost or consequences were. When the conventional spells and magic didn't bring results he wanted, Amalric turned to using dark magic.
However, it didn’t take long for the evidence of his experiments to be found by the townsfolk, since Amalric hadn’t really thought about the consequences of leaving graves dug up and leaving charred corpses in the woods.
While Amalric hadn’t been caught yet, he realised that at this point he needed to leave home if he was going to be able to make any progress on bringing Emira back from the dead. He left home one night, only leaving a letter to his parents.
He travelled in the direction of Fallcrest, making attempts to carry on his work while moving from town to town, until he ended up in Neustadt, to which he's stayed since.

Familial Relationships: 

  Melisende | Mother (Alive) - Amalric and Melisende were on very good terms, with her being the reason that Amalric originally wanted to be a healer and developed an interest in potion making.

  Ralnor | Father (Alive) - While Amalric and Ralnor got along, Amalric had troubles with connecting with his father as they didn't have too much in common and Amalric found it difficult to understand how Ralnor was feeling a lot of the time. He sometimes feels like Ralnor is disappointed in the fact he never was able to pick up on sword fighting.

  Emira | Sister (Resurrected) - Amalric was completely distraught after Emira's death. Amalric feels that she was the better sibling of the two and that when she comes back that things will be all okay. He doesn't really care much about the consequences and is more than happy to sacrifice his own well being, just as long as he can have his sister back.

  Lily |  Best Friend - Amalric misses Lily immensely.

  Dice |  It's Complicated - Amalric misses Dice immensely.

  Jubokko | Friend - Amalric finds Jubokko to be useful and reliable occasionally but also finds them to be very frustrating. He understands that Jubokko is a Skraal and is dangerous, but he would prefer to have Jubokko on his side than the alternative. Amalric would never say it, but they do consider Jubokko a friend, even if they are a pain.

  Mora | Friend - Amalric is very grateful to Mora for her help (even if he's had to do a couple of favours in return).

  Ellen | Acquaintance - Amalric is wary of Ellen from the few times they have spoken, but trusts her a little more than he probably should due to the previous friendship she had with Lily.

  Droog | Friend Skraal - Amalric is still grateful that Droog saved his life back up on the mountains and finds them to be much nicer than Jubokko would ever be.

  Aria | Friend - Amalric is on good terms with Aria, and has gone to her for help a few times.

Sadrier | Acquaintance - Amalric doesn't know Sadrier too well, but likes to think they are on good terms. (He has mostly blocked out the events that happened in Stanworth.)

Personality:

  Polite - Amalric does his best to be respectful to others, until they end up doing something to lose that.

  Educated - Due to the amount of studying he’s done, Amalric is very smart when it comes to information on magic, potions and other various things he likes to read up on. He is able to both read and write in Standard and New Burzhal and is starting to learn how to read Old Burzhal.

  Helpful - Amalric tries his best to help people when they ask for it, or if he sees they need help. He is more reluctant and unwilling to help people who he feels have slighted him or ignored his advice. He helps people as he thinks it's the right thing to do, but also in way to try and make up for the bad things that he's done.

  Curious - He is very curious and likes to ask a lot of questions, especially if it's to do with dark magic or the Burzhal. This usually leads him to asking lots of questions which can get to the point of annoyance for others.

  Determined - Amalric is extremely determined when he sets his mind on something and it’s difficult to get him to stop, especially if it involves bringing Emira back.

  Self-Loathing - Amalric does not like himself at all to the point that he would rather not be around. It can get to the point of self-destructiveness, where he'll choose his work over his well-being most of the time, finding injuries to be more of an inconvenience to his goals.

  Awkward - While Amalric does occasionally try to be friendly, it can come off as awkward, mostly since he hasn’t had many friends.

  Short-Fuse - Amalric does his best to keep an aloof composure but it doesn’t take much to get Amalric’s temper to rise, especially if you know what winds him up.

Amalric is very capable with healing magic, due to his interest of wanting to be a cleric when he was younger, and the use it has been in his studies. He has grown into a fairly experienced necromancer, but prefers to use fire spells in order to not look suspicious to others about his research. He is adamant on using a staff or tome for his spells, as he learnt the hard way what magic can do without using a catalyst.

Likes and Dislikes

Likes:

• Dark Magic - While Amalric knows to an extent of the dangerous of dark magic and necromancy, it doesn’t stop him from getting a kick out of it when he uses it.

• Sweet Food - Amalric doesn’t eat sweet food that often, but he really likes sugary foods and has a high tolerance for them. If you ever gave him sweet food, it would likely put you in his good books.

• Cute things - While Amalric would never admit it to anyone, he does have a bit of a soft spot for cute things. Bonus if they’re soft too.

• Reading - While his studies into necromancy and dark magic takes up most of his reading, he also likes to read books on potions, botany and other non-fictions books. He also reads stories to Lily sometimes.

• Potion Making - Even though he makes potions to make a living, Amalric is very enthusiastic about them and could talk about the for ages if you’d let him.
  
  

Dislikes:

• Cold Weather - Amalric doesn’t deal with the cold well at all and is usually wearing a couple of layers of clothing.
  
  
• Large Animals - Due to Emira’s death being seemingly caused by a large animal, Amalric developed a fear of large beast-like animals. While humanoid beings aren’t as bad, his encounter at the Ice Temple has lead him to be much more wary.
  
  
• Sleeping - Amalric is generally reluctant to go to sleep, due to the frequent nightmares and night terrors he gets. It’s not uncommon if he wakes up during the night.
  
  
• Folizards - Amalric got his arm broken by one once from sticking his arm in a leaf pile, so now he hates them.
  

Fears and Dreams

Fears:

• Amalric has a severe fear of something going terribly wrong with his efforts of bringing his sister back from the dead, which is the main reason he's spending so much time trying to make sure he doesn't mess up.

• While Amalric was the one who ran away from home, he has the fear that his parents will reject or disown him if they find out what he’s been working on.

• Even though Amalric believes that Lily deserves better than being stuck with him, he has the fear that she will just leave him one day. This fear was escalated in RP | I see Demons, where it has now turned into that Lily might leave and forget about him.

Dreams:

• Amalric’s main goal is to bring his sister back from the dead, as he believes that things will be okay after that. It’s the main thing that keeps him going.

• When he was younger, it was always a dream of his to go travelling and see the sights of Newhaven, and made a deal with his sister that they would travel together. He still occasionally thinks about it but feels that he can’t until Emira comes back.
