Kamikaze – Divine Wind

It’s a present for my brother : it doesn’t mean I approve what Japan did. Japaneses made atrocities during the WWII, particularly in China. It’s just a drawing.

War is a crime in itself.  These men tried to be the "Divine Wind" like that which destroyed Genghis Khan's invasion fleet.  The Storm to turn back the American Invasion Fleet in Japans most desperate hour.  They were being heros giving their lives in order to try and protect those back home in Japan.

Now this is an amazing piece.:)

They do remind me of the 13th squadron aces from Heroes of the Pacific.

Atrocities were committed on all sides. What we sometimes forget, is even the enemy had not only heros, but those who acted heroic. And MOST of the soldiers believed they were fighting for their country and against the evils of their advesaries. Not everybody will agree with me, but you can present the enemies in a human or even a heroic manner, without condoning the enemies actions! This is a great picture to remind us that these poor saps were just people too! And as Kamikaze pilots, they were ALL sealing their fates to die for their country. I have no idea what kind of courage...or just acceptance of fate...it took to learn to fly to know that you were going to be strapped into a plane and were supposed to fly it into the side of a ship.

War is war and all that. No civilization alive can claim innocence of wrongdoing. The Japanese were just the ones who were glaringly in the wrong after the war. Whatever. This is nicely done. I don`t understand the sun (?) on their sleeves. Specially why it's coloured. Please explain?

Well , what can I say . I'm Russian , so my country fought with Jpan , but don't looking at this I always respected Kamikaze . No difference their country started the war , in fact , many of them were just schoolboys who had not other chance to protect those they loved . Yes , of course , I'm sorry for all those Americans died , as well as Russians , Japanese and Germans . Horrible times , yeah ...

Did you know kamikaze pilots had a better chance of survival then American pilots did?

This is because their planes were grounded more often then American planes....

When I saw 'Divine Wind'... I was thinking, okay, why does that sound so familiar? Heh, I studied that book last year for English. I couldn't finish reading the book, I dunno, I just couldn't. >_<

Anyways, amazing art, beautiful contrasting. ^_^

War is the lamest conclusion to come to. -_- May it dissolve into nothingness.

*laughs* I had to read a book called The Divine Wind for school. As soon as I saw this piece my head said "Garry Disher" (Who is the author of the novel) But it makes sense, because the book was about WWII and stuff.

You have an amazing talent!

My grandfather ended up making a life long friendship with a Japanese POW during WWII, so thank you very much for such a amazing and tasteful image of young soldiers.

As you said Japan (and Germany) did horrible things during that war, but you show here the faces of the normal men who were soldiers for their country just like my Granddad was for his.

So thank youo.

Moi j'utilise Manga Studio, Photofiltr studio X.

everybody did horrible things in that war. soldiers are still real people, and i think this piece is beautiful in that it shows the humanity of each pilot. probably an interesting story behind each one. also, your technique is beautiful.
