The Stars of dAr is a series where I interview one member of the deviantART Related (dAr) community each time, about personal and dA related matters. Today, we meet gillianivyart! :handshake: Though she's a multisided artist, she is probably best known for babbling a lot her journal and gallery skins, and her enthusiastic participation and always friendly attitude in the community, especially when it comes to helping others learning the ropes of

Thank you for your participation, Gillian! :happybounce:

- Please tell us something about yourself!
Gillian trivia... ;P  I'm 5'3"(ish) half Chinese, a mom of a 5 year old, a gamer and artist (of course).  I met my significant other on DA, silverbane.  I have some white eyelashes in my left eye as my birthmark.  My first white hair was when I was 15, or so, I'm 32 now.  I love Sci-fi/fantasy, I have no favorite color, movie, book or song (how could I ever choose, there are so many I love).  I want to own a TARDIS, well, have an art studio/gallery that looked like Eleven's interior.  I have a terrible, as in tasteless sense of humor, I am easily amused and I have a loud obnoxious laugh that bursts out.  I nod my head every time I see this  Oh, and I always correct my spelling and look up words to make sure I'm using them in the proper form.

- Some people may be reading this article and going ":omg: hey, I recognise them! But what from?". Can you refresh their mind - how have they most likely seen you before? :D
Most people may know me via my CSS activity with DeviantART journal skins.  I've been rather active in the community and am in several of the CSS groups.  I usually answer questions or offer advice/feedback, etc whenever I see someone asking in those groups.  Likely people have seen my skins without knowing who I am.  I'm always happy to come across my own work when I stumble upon a random deviant.

- How did you get into dA related and the journal skins community?
My bf bought me a premium membership, the first one I ever had, for Valentines in 2010.  So, I immediately hopped on some tutorials and customized my journal.  I already had interest in HTML and website customizing, but only really delved into CSS on DA.  DA Related came naturally once I'd indoctrinated myself head first into the community since it is all very interconnected.  I'll see a lot of the same faces all through out, and the community welcomed me with open arms.

- What is your favourite part of dA? And how do you think it could be improved?
Favorite part?  I'm always bad at picking favorites.  Of course, I'm addicted to the journals and everything to do with the coding.  But it's really the friends that I've made here that have me so in love with this site.  I guess there's always room for improvement.  I'm pretty happy with everything, actually.  I'm very adaptable.  I might not like some change at first, but I don't mind learning new features, etc.

- Do you have any specific goals on dA?
Do CSS as well as marioluevanos, his article designs are amazing and inspiring.  Another ultimate goal would be to get a DD for one of my artworks.  I do take a lot of pride in my journal skins, but I am a visual artist and I'm working hard to improve my artistic skills.

- Is there any group, chatroom, event etc. that you'd like to promote and make the readers aware of?
:iconecssercise: Of course!  My main group (which I have been less active than I'd like lately)  Our focus is sharing the CSS knowledge and helping new coders feel welcome and encouraged.
(note; now merged with :iconecssited:)

- What is your favourite part of the dA related category, that you haven't tried creating yourself yet? And what are your favourite deviations in this category?
I haven't done any stamps, though I've thought of several ideas I hadn't seen.  Pixels aren't really my forte, though I have created a few emotes.  I also haven't done any suggestions, which I really should.  Stamps can be very personal and fun, full of emotion or laughter or just an expression of self.  You see them all over the site, giving you little insights to the anonymous masses, to maybe find someone who thinks like you do.

- What is your favourite deviation from your own gallery, and how about your favourites?
Revelry and Tea by gillianivyart -- My most in depth digital painting, also a collab with my bf
My favorites, I have soooooo many.  Can I give you my favorite collection instead?  I take a lot of pride in my collections, and my Sci-fi folder is my favorite of favorites: gillianivy.deviantart.com/favo…

- What can you say to help or inspire people who may feel motivated reading this?
We're all a part of the DA Related community, which I have found to be very friendly and helpful.  If you have questions, need advice, looking for feedback or just want to meet fellow artists who love DA as much as you, then just ask.  You'll likely get an answer or be pointed in the right direction, and maybe make a friend.

I told you she was nice. :D Ahem, thanks gillianivyart for your insights! :handshake:

Thanks for reading! Want to see more? Visit gillianivyart's gallery or the journal skin folder, find more awesome skins in her favourites, or read her babblings.

I really admire Gillian! She is fantastic and I only wish I had half of her strength. She always has the time to make journals, help others and is very active in all her CSS groups. I love her traditional artworks and her recent digital paintings blow my mind.

Loved the interview too made me smile and I see myself doing the same with my spelling at times. :P Keep babbling on we love you
