My piece for the Corvid Portfolio ([link]
); upon being contacted to join in on this great project, I knew I wanted to do something with The Morrigan. Several of the resources I looked up cited her as appearing as a hooded crow in particular, so I chose to depict her as a shape-shifted hooded crow.
A note about the celtic knotwork- I am by no means good at drawing knotwork, and there are people out there that do it well, much better than I! I did my best to make it original- that is I didn't outright copy any existing designs, allthough I did use a large number of images to help draw the patterning and figure the stuff out. I could not have done it with out the help of dozens of images of well done knotwork.
The original file is really large (you can see the design clearly in her belt buckle for example). And, it corrupted on me once. I hit 'crtl-S' to save it at one point earlier today, and Painter CLOSED. Without warning, just POP! CLOSED! And when it did that it corrupted the file. BUGGAR. So I lost a good 6+ hours of work on it, and all of my layers, because I had saved my backup in a bitmap format. Buuuuhhh. But overall, not counting the 6 hours lost, I probably droppd a good 25-30 hours in this piece.
Painted in Painter, mainly the oil pastel tool.
Would anyone be interested in a large format print if I am able to get some made?
