This year hardly went to plan. Our third person/ride from Ottawa had no choice but to bail as her work went from difficult about giving her time off this weekend to that they'd fire her if she went. D: So my Dad had to give me and Nikki rainetomoe
a ride down to Toronto. And things just seemed to keep getting messed up. Like not being able to get our Pre-reg on Thursday (It's really time Artist's and Crafter's got some kinda priority like dealers do, imho. Especially with pre-reg becoming crazier than ever.)
Since Nikki had needed to go to Peterborough earlier in the week for a job interview, it had left me with trying to finish up our ponies.... which I had not been able to totally do. So plan was to try to get what we could done in the evenings/table. We were able to get a LOT done, but there were still a few we'd hoped to get done that we were just unable to. By time we usually got back to the hotel room and had eaten and such, it was suddenly midnight and not long after that... I just couldn't stay awake. I never made up for lost sleep this weekend, so I was exhausted all weekend. I was totally going on fumes. I also lost my Rozalin costume's hair piece.
I guess good thing I was planning to make this the last con for it for awhile. I LOVE that costume, but it really needs some fabric replacing.
To say I'm wiped out today is an understatement!
As for the con itself... I didn't get to see much of it as usual. Not even the 404s.
I did get to one of NISA's panels... wasn't really much I didn't already know about. |D Got some prinny shaped silly bands for wearing my costume and managed to ask about the fail that is the D2 psp DLC... sadly only got a cringing don't know about fixing it... dammit. I want battle cries on my DLC. ;A; Least seemed to know what I was talking about. Nikki and I also tried to get to the doll market... but there was a HUGE lineup X_x We had to get to our table, so THAT didn't happen. orz
SO YEAH. PONIES. ALL THE PONIES. My goodness. We knew they'd probably do well. We didn't expect to be practically selling while they were still in pieces hiding behind our table. News that we had them really got around the con too. It was crazy! I really wish we could have had more to offer. Time just was NOT on our side this year. We worked REALLY hard to get done what we did. I dragged myself outta bed super early both mornings to work on them.
We had a LOT of questions about commissions... at first we said we might, but now we really gotta see how things go. Especially since it had to have been at least 20 people who asked by the end of the con. O_o That's a lotta commissions... We might have to look at monthly slots or something so we're not overwhelmed. We'll figure something out and post about it as soon as we do. Just have to finish recovering from the convention first! XD Though, I am going to make an effort to finish up the few ponies we had half finished. We shall put those up on Etsy, most likely, when they are completed.
(And just to answer something that did come up... why our are eyes not embroidered? Because hand embroidery takes a lotta time that would push the cost up a lot higher, and we don't currently have/have access to an embroidery machine. So iron-ons were the best looking/cost effective option. For the record though, I did vector the eyes myself. :3 When we aren't both so poor, we DEFINITELY wanna lay our hands on an machine that can do embroidery though. )
Commissions are also going to be a bit tricky because Nikki is going to be moving back to Peterborough, and I'm in rural Ottawa, (where I'm about to be house bound for much of the summer... )... but her and her sister are planning to come up and visit me much as they can! So we might have to have sewing weekends. lol
There's also now Otakuthon to prepare for! YES, we will be at Otakuthon.
Also will look into getting a table at Naru2U. Don't know about G-Anime as of yet.
We're also thinking of looking into a button maker for Otakuthon... Excitement!
I'm now gonna fall back into bed. |Db
