(Made a few changes to the welcome letter -- submission limit, explanation of what's accepted, information about another folder.)

Welcome to #NaHaiWriMo, a group created to collect together haiku written during NaHaiWriMo (or HaikuWriMo if you prefer).

I'm your host, dawni, and I'm very new to this whole running a group thing - so if you're interested in helping out, please do give me a shout - I'll accept any type of help at all, from on-going admin positions to suggestions on what to include on the main group page (and how to do it :p).

We're obviously a new group, created in 2013, but to my understanding, NaHaiWriMo has been around for a few good years now. This group, while primarily focused on haiku, will also accept other Eastern poetry forms if you are taking part in NaHaiWriMo but fcocusing on a different Eastern form. Haiku submissions can be either following the old "5-7-5" style, or the newer "No 5-7-5". If you are doing several different forms, it IS acceptable to include more than one haiku in the same deviation, but please don't submit them only once.

Submissions to the "February 2013 - Haiku" gallery are open, but I do ask that you please only submit haiku to this folder. I have also created a "February 2013 - Eastern" folder for other Eastern poetry that people might choose to create this month.

Feel free to submit each day - or multiple times in a day if you get behind, but try to limit it to a single deviation per date so that other writers also get some exposure. Each folder has an 8-per-week deviation limit, to enable you to catch up a little if you fall behind.

The "Featured" gallery folder will, once we start getting off the ground, hold one haiku from each day - with an eye to include at least one haiku from each member while we're small, then probably moving into a random haiku if the group gets pretty large. These will be added by admins, so please make sure you're submitting to the appropriate "February 2013" folders.

Thanks very much for joining, and again, welcome! :)

For more information about National Haiku Writing Month (NaHaiWriMo), please visit the webpage at, and the very active Facebook page at For more information on haiku, please visit (devoted chiefly to haiku) and click the Further Reading link. Perhaps start with the "Becoming a Haiku Poet" essay. Thanks, and keep those haiku coming!

Hey, this is a great idea! I'm happy to participate. This is my first year and I'm so excited! =D
I would suggest posting the rules somewhere on the front page. Even though there aren't that many. Also, you could always put the submission limit at 7 a week. That way there is still room for one every days, and if someone is behind that should still leave enough wiggle room for them to catch up. Just an idea.
I can't offer my services as an admin. I don't have the extra time. However, if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask me! I would be happy to help in any way that I can. =D

Thank you so much. :)

I completely understsand re no time for an admin position, but thank you so much for helping where you can! I'm sure I'll be making use of the offer to answer questions in the coming days - I know how to run a group, but I wouldn't have a clue how to do it on dA!

I was thinking about your submission limit and I like the idea. I think I'll provide a tiny bit more wiggle room by setting it to 8 pieces a week, though.

Re the rules on the main page, I thought posting this blog would do that? I'll have a play later and see if I can work something out to post them up, thank you. :)

Again, thank you so much for all of your help, I definitely appreciate it!

No problem! =D

That's a good idea.

Well, the blog does do that, but it's not as obvious as say, a widget titled rules. Also, if you ever post another blog, the one with the rules wont be on the front page anymore. I suggest using the anything widget.

Sure thing! You know where to find me if you need anything.

Thank you. :D

I got them onto the About Us page, once I'm ready to do a new blog up I'll move them onto the front page as well/instead, now I know what I'm doing. :D Thank you so much!
