Candace in a Great Tightness

Candace the Wolf was sprawled out on her couch mindlessly staring at the ceiling. She sighed as she ran her paws through her hair, a look of sheer boredom on her pretty face. It was one of those rare instances she had the house to herself after getting married and having puppies. Her husband, Johann, had taken the kids to see their uncle for the day, leaving her to have some free time. Admittedly, she was excited. However, after a couple hours, she had resorted to doing chores. Now, she had nothing else to do. Her eyes scanned the pictures on the walls. Various family members were looking at her. However, she spotted one where her mother, Kassandra, was serving the whole family a pie. That’s when an idea popped in her head. She’ll make an apple pie for her family! She sat up and mulled it over. She would have to go to the store to get supplies, as she didn’t even have the primary ingredient, the fruit itself. Good, a store run to preoccupy herself. Her mind was made up. She tossed a

LILY AND THE BOG DRAGONS MOOD/SYNOPSIS

LILY AND THE BOG DRAGONS MOOD SOUNDTRACK/SYNOPSIS WRITTEN on Jan 22nd, 2026, at 10:07am… NOTE: This is not my own soundtrack, but rather a collection of songs that I thought worked well in a custom playlist on my iPhone. This is used to set the mood throughout the story, and it is what I use when writing Lily and the Bog Dragons. All songs and rights belong to their original owners respectively, and no copyright infringement is intended. If you want to understand how the mood works, follow the sequence and listen to the songs either on YouTube or iTunes to understand what kind of a story I wish to write. FURTHER NOTE: Any selection that says NO MUSIC is set as only-dialogue with no background music. In other words, silent moments in a hypothetical movie/motion comic. I’m only working with what I can draw, not what I wish to visualize on a big silver screen. That’s for the future to decide. EXTRA NOTE: This is the synopsis of the story. Some parts of the plot are left out to keep this

Book of Recollection

Living Scripture of Memory, Gratitude, and Becoming We, the chroniclers of ordinary days, gather our recollections into a single, breathing volume—woven from the voices of mothers, daughters, workers, scholars, pilgrims of the new order, and all who found themselves remade beneath the Emperor’s rising star. This is not a history written by officials nor a monument carved by decree. It is a braid of lived moments, carried across generations, each one a seed that took root in the soil of a transformed world. We write these remembrances so that those yet unborn may know of our awakening into a different age—not through proclamations or ceremonies, but through the subtle hush that falls when a civilization finally exhales after centuries of disquiet. I. The First Letters "I remember the final days of the old governance—its noise, its quarrels, the constant sense that someone somewhere must surely know the path forward, though no one ever did. When the Emperor first spoke of order, my

A Story - Act 1, Scene 12

Devon and Iris sit in the abandoned fast-food joint. Devon eats while Iris picks at her food. The tortillas are soggy, the meat is questionable, and the beans burned. Devon asks around a mouthful of food. “Aren’t you hungry? When was the last time you had a burrito?” “Is that what this is?” He puts down his soggy burrito. “What is it?” She looks at him. “You’ve never asked what I was doing out in the desert alone that night.” Devon shrugs. “None of my business.” “I was running away.” “Okay.” “Don’t you want to know from what?” “Not really. But if you think it’s important to tell me, I’ll listen.” She takes in a shaky breath. “I killed someone.” “Okay.” “I mean, I think I killed someone. I’m not sure.” “I’m still listening.” “Devon, do you know what ‘grooming’ is?” “Yeah, sort of.” “During the war things were pretty bad in Page. We weren’t far from the front. There were shortages of everything. Water of course, but food too. Before the war I had a part time job at a

A Story - Act 1, Scene 6

They spend the first night in an old ghost town called Desert Center. Sitting by their small fire, Iris chews on a piece of jerky that Devon gave her. “Sheesh, did the war do this place in?” she says. Devon shakes his head. “No, it was like this before the war.” “Oh. Aren’t you going to eat?” “No.” He reaches into his ruck, pulls out Iris’ blanket and tosses it to her. He lays back, tucks his ruck under his head and closes his eyes. Iris clutches the blanket to her chest, looking down at it, smiling softly. “Good night Devon.” she says. “Uh huh.” Two days later they approach the outskirts of Blythe. The interstate is blocked with concrete highway barriers and concertina wire. The barrier is manned by men armed with military weapons. An armored vehicle with a large top mounted gun is at the center of the barricaded area. About 300 hundred yards from the barrier Devon takes off his sidearm, stuffs it into his ruck and hands it to Iris. “Wait here.” he says. Devon walks towards

A Story - Act 1, Scene 4

Devon repeats his scan routine with his binoculars when they approach the abandoned ruins of Chiriaco Summit and the adjacent Patton Museum. The sun has dropped below the horizon but there is just enough light left to see. “Is that where we’re headed?” Iris asks. “Uh huh.” “Would it kill you to say yes once in a while, instead of uh huh?” “Uh huh.” Iris snorts. “Uh oh.” Devon says. “What?” “I see a fire, looks like … one person sitting next to it.” “Is that bad?” Devon rises and stashes the binocs. “Maybe. Maybe not. Only one way to find out.” He starts walking towards the fire, Iris following cautiously behind. “Ola amigos.” the old man says as they approached cautiously, not looking up from his fire. “No hablo español.” Devon responds, staying in the shadows. He has his sidearm down by his hip. “That’s okay friend. I speak English. Come, share my fire.” “Who else is here?” Devon asks. The old man cackles a little. “Coyotes, owls, bats, cats …. and spirits.” Iris

Waiting My Turn

I wake up. I hate what happened next. I check my phone, I missed another friend’s 3am text. A new notification to fill me with dread, What happened to my friend who was happy yesterday? My hope of a better day became worse instead, Was it so hard for them to stay? One by one they drop like flies, Where the hell did they even go? Each call and message I receive, I pray their deaths are a joke. When do I have to go to the funeral? When do I have to see the coffin? My tears should be running out soon, since I’m having to cry so often. Can God stop taking my friends from me? How many bodies does he want me to burn? I’m begging you to set me free, For the love of everything, let it be my turn. You can send me to Heaven, You can send me to Hell, I don’t care anymore, I still hear the funeral bells. The last one was my best friend, how could they do this to me? When will this nightmare end? Please God, let the next one be me. I wonder what heaven is like, I wonder how they

Year of the Snake 2025

Sequel to this story from Year of the Dragon 2024   Snow coated the mountain tops. Chao Feng ran up the mountain path as it rose even above the clouds. He had lived here as long as he could remember, so the altitude did not steal his breath. He wore a golden yī-fu with dual dragons on it, one red for his father and one blue for his mother. In the sparse trees up the mountain pass, a shadow passed from tree to tree. The limbs shook as a figure ran on them. It got ahead of him, and when he made it to a point where the cliffs flattened to a beautiful overlook of the valley below. The figured landed before him. Shorter, though with a powerful stance and a monkey tail swished behind them. The mountains blocked the sun, so it kept the figure shadowy. It took a stance to fight. Chao took up a defensive stance. They threw a punch. Chao deflected the blow and struck back. The figure ducked under it and kicked his face. Chao took the hit and struck back. The human teens hit the opponent.

The First Great Quest (Chapter 1)

Chapter 1 The year is 485 CE (Corvus Era). Far on the Eastern most boarder of the Empire of Tygaria lies a single small town known as Phandalin. This little village, out of the way of the wider world, nestled just on the edge of the wilds of the Karpathia mountains, would appear unassuming, simple, and pleasant. The town lies within the province of Lord Marcus Avem. Believed to be a direct descendant of the Lark himself, right hand of the Great Raven Lord, all who lived in the domain of Avem’s family considered themselves blessed and fortunate, for the Avem family are wise, prosperous, and wealthy. And of those towns and villages belonging to the Lord Avem, Phandalin is by far one of the most quaint and modest villages of them all. But Phandalin has seen many strange things over the centuries. Given its close location to the badlands to the east of Tygaria, countless travelers, adventurers, armies, and creatures have passed through this town, merely passing through as they make their

I don’t care - end of discussion!”   Snowball stopped paddling in the lower section of the hollow iceberg, a clear frozen ice bubble separating him from the section Fenris was now in up above. The water quietly lapped at the insides of the ‘berg, small splashes of the cold seawater followed by it dripping off the ice around him.     “But we couldn’t have done it without them,” the snow dragon said, front paws still on the ice in front of him. He started paddling slowly again in the water, tail working back and forth while pushing the iceberg onward. “They created the diversion to get Réz aboard the ship with the chunks of ice I made, brought her there, and got her back – along with all your equipment. They asked for nothing to help us get you back. We have to at least thank them and let them know you’re safe.”   “You do it. Leave me on a rock, this iceberg, or even back with the goliaths. I’ll not let you turn me over to them.” Fenris fumed. Turning away he

Eyes From an Ancient Barrow

MAY Mallory shivered as she walked up the hill, the knifelike wind easily slicing through the "special' coat that the online seller had swore could stand up to even the harshest of winter weather. It was May in Iceland, a gray and windy one at that. The locals at the inn had cheerfully told them that today would be lovely. If this was a gorgeous day in spring, Mallory was sure that she didn't want to see what it was like during the fall and winter months. Stumbling over a large rock, she took a moment to look out over the landscape. Despite it being cold enough to shatter exposed teeth, Iceland was gorgeous. The sky was as blue as the sea, and far-off mountains supported the heavens above with their eternally snow capped peaks. Fields stretched out towards them and never quite reached their destination, and the cold winds whistled an ancient tune both familiar and unknown. The area, besides the wind, was silent. Not even the most pesky tourist or fame-hungry vlogger dared to combat the
