Hello friends, I am kind of here (as of Apr 2019)? I left for quite a while, and here is why: fav.me/db9f0o1 I am not making a new account on deviant art.

"Entertainments nearly always end with triumph or disaster- happiness achieved, or total, tragic defeat precluding any hope of it. But there is always more after the ending- always the next morning and the next, always changes, losses and gains. Always one step after the other. Until the one true ending that none of us can escape. But even that ending is only a small one, large as it looms for us. There is still the next morning for everyone else.

For the vast majority of the rest of the universe, that ending is an arbitrary one. Every ending is, from another angle, not really an ending."

- Ann Leckie, Ancillary Mercy

“Fairytales don’t tell children that dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairytales tell children that dragons can be killed.” - G.K. Chesterton

"In the 1960s, John F. Kennedy had to go out of his way to say that his religion would not interfere with his presidency," he said. "Now we're almost having candidates say the opposite: They're not going to let the science interfere with their religious convictions while they're in office.

To me, the question is whether knowledge is advancing to the point where democracy isn't able to handle making good decisions," he told me. "What happens when the level of knowledge required around all these issues that we have to be able to salve is so high that the general public really doesn't intersect with it? I don't really know the what the solution to that is, but it's very concerning." - Alan Boyle

"The atoms that were once in earth will be part of the expanding nebula around the sun. Your atoms will be part of that nebula. If the white dwarf remnant sun becomes hot enough, it will ionize the expelled gas and light it (and you) up as a planetary nebula.

The most important lesson of astronomy is that we are part of the universe and not just observers. The atoms we are made of are destined to return to the interstellar medium in just a few billion years. That’s a long time, and it is possible that the human race will migrate to other planetary systems before then. That might save the human race, but much of our planet will return to being stardust." – Backman & Seeds: Stars and Galaxies 7th Ed

"In addition, we might wonder why sophisticated extraterrestrials would travel many light years simply to carve graffiti in our wheat."
