The subjects that inspires me to paint are around transformation and total freedom. The path of Life, essentially. Probably because I know what it feels like to have inferiority, insecurity, and the heaviness that comes with not measuring up or whatever.  I've journaled for a long time because I want to get to the bottom of it. Not because I want to change other people to suit me, but because, I want to heal, and I want to be strong, and then I want to be able to share what worked, with people who have similar struggles. There is a verse that says we are transformed by the renewing of our mind. There is also an interesting field of science that backs this up.
Our brain is a forest of thoughts, memories, which produce a chemistry  which becomes our own personal marinade.
The neural network in our brains which our thoughts and memories create, look a lot like the branches I paint.
In the painting 'Removing the Thorn' there is a branch above the healer's head. A massive network of dark branches. This is where the work really takes place. 'Still Standing' is another one. It deals with perception. the head is made of branches.
I've never talked about the branches before, so I thought I would mention it.

Lots of elements that pertain to something.
descending steps - humility
the position of the Lion- disarming the pride of the ego,
Lions Paw - our primal equipment
branches - thoughts, perceptions, attitudes
Jesus - the healer or healing process
city behind the lion - domestication
the peacock can either represent vanity or the beauty or reward that follows the process
the peacock pointing to the wild - returning to our untamed selves away from domestication or behavior modification
thorn - any hindrance. abusive relationships, religious paradigms, false identities, enemy agreements.
the reflection in the water. the use of mirrors that God speaks through to open our eyes.
