Thanks for the recent
! If you're interested, I have a few other tutorials of this ilk in the "Assorted Randomness" section of my gallery.
While I was here, I noticed your Journal post about non-sexualized poses, and thought I might take a moment to offer a little help. Admittedly, a fair number of my images tend to be pin-up - on purpose, rather than the so-called accidental "nono, this girl has an entirely platonic relationship with her motorcycle" pin-up you mentioned, which I sort of abhor. However, I do plenty of "normal" images as well, and the lack of decent references can be a real pain. Your comment about a woman dancing around a fire (rather than trying to seduce a fire) is very apt.
Anyway, I have a few resources that I think you might find useful:www.posemaniacs.com
is a reference site that offers a bunch of different poses - including 360 degree rotations, so you can see a variety of angles. The site is now defunct, so they no longer update new poses, but those that are already there are pretty diverse. Additionally, they all show underlying muscle-structure and are realistically-proportioned, so they're handy for anatomical study as well. Here's an example that might be handy for your "fire dancer" www.posemaniacs.com/archives/7…
Closer to home, here are a few dA sock artists who I quite enjoy:
has lots of normal girls in normal poses - as well as a variety of action-type poses.
offers images that are, I think, intended for use in photo manipulation; but I've found some valuable "heroic" references here, and you might find the "Dancing Girls" section helpful. This stock-provider does have some rather carnally suggestive stock, but it's far less porny than some, and there are some genuinely realistic options as well.
is a good middle-of-the-road compared to the two aforementioned stock artists. Her stuff is often sexy, but almost never sexualized - if you know what I mean. Her pics are very real-world, rather than overdramatized, so they're great for when you want a character to be attractive without being some Penthouse plaything. Dani also has a number of casual images - though these are often very specific to a situation (playing an instrument, occult imagery, etc.)
has a very diverse range of stock - mostly for fantasy stuff.
I hope these offer some of the reference options you're looking for. I know what a hassle it can be to comb the internet, looking for just that right image. Best of luck!
