Melanie Reference 2024-25

Kind of got this started in 2024 but finished in 2025, a long overdue attention given to Dark Omen. First up is a new ref for Melanie because I just focus on her more than the others.

The little quote on her reference sheet is referring to a conversation her and Lucas have, Lucas doesn't like her much and her creations. She's a bit of a tough one to write, because she is a double sided individual for reasons. Could be the reason why I get so interested with working on her, along with Lucas.

A seamstress and doll maker, Melanie was raised under strict teachings, perfection driven into her mind. Now under circumstances she is now an experiment of Malverres, living with a curse that grips her past.

Melanie is a well-mannered woman, preferring to keep to herself and is not one to be so open about herself though she does get involved in more interesting events that go on and will tend to make a witty remark. She can come across as motherly but she can quickly turn if she feels she is threatened in any way, paranoia taking over as she turns hysterical.

In an ambition she created her own circus and her own collection of rats, each creation with a unique heart infused with special threads she crafted with her powers. The creations of the circus are seen as monstrosities but she comments that she worked hard to ‘perfect’ them.

The creations are loyal to her but still have their own lifestyle and personalities. She works closely with Cazis to acquire the ‘materials’ she needs for her many projects.

No other members of the experiment know of her past over time hints about her slip through, how she expresses feelings of grief and tries to correct everything through her creations.

Even though immortal she is sometimes seen with a rapier, especially at her shows as she claims it’s merely for self-defence but she never leaves the castle grounds.

With each of the others in the experiment being granted powers that associate them personally, Melanie was treated harsher in Malverres’s experiment to recreate what the goddess’s brother achieved.
