What if the first game of The House of the Dead
was remade? Only instead of being an arcade on-rail shooter it was remade as a genine FPS game? A genuine horror shooting game like Resident Evil
or Left 4 Dead
that isn't confined to the arcades or on a rail.
This is whats in mind for "The House of the Dead: Resurrection"
, a fan-reboot of the original game. I can imagine the finish project looking a lot like Outer Forest
or Deadly Route
from Sonic & Sega All-Star Racing
only less toony and more realistic (Games like Outlast and RE7 in particular in mind). The game will still be faithful to the original story, right down to taking place in December 18th, 1998. I also want the map to be faithful to the game but also include original areas to the house, such as the upstairs corridor leading to the rotundra from Zombie Revenge
to new corridors and areas in mind.
I can also imagine collectibles in the form of documents that when picked up will give more backstory of whats going on in the game. Like how Dr. Curien created the zombies, how the boss enemies are artificially created mutants and so on.
Thing is, I know full well I can't make this project all by myself. At the moment it's just a FPSController around a basic front area made mostly from cubes.
The mansion I made in AC3D, the only program I know how to use for rendering models andstill it's not that quality. I can never get my head around on using Blender which is more practical. But with the right people, both creative with Blender, Unity and THoTD fans, I might pull it off.
So, if I knew any The House of the Dead
communities out there, thats where I would propose the project. But I do not know any. So until then heres just what I made so far.
