Tips For Writing BE Literature: Expansion Triggers

Here are some things to keep in mind when writing BE literature. Remember that all of these are my personal ideas and are by no means the "laws of BE/expansion writing". Just throwing these out there to give other aspiring writers something to think about. These tips can also be applied to any sort of expansion, but dA has a limited amount of characters for its titles, so I have to use shorthand like that, because BE is pretty much my field of expertise anyways. Anyways, enough gabbing, let's get to the tips!

So I discussed expansion speed, but let's go onto an even more important factor: Expansion triggers.

To define this term is really simple: its the thing that actively causes the BE. Whether it be a magic spell, a science experiment gone wrong, a tire pump or helium tank, or even just sex in itself! Triggers are a good base when trying to figure out what you want to do with your story, and can help set up the infrastructure for everything else.

The way I see it, trigger types are broken up into these categories:

-Magic. This can include spells, potions, curses, and that sort of stuff. Any kind of mythical, magical thing, from a spell that curses the woman to expand every time she sneezes, to a magic cream that causes her to grow overnight. Possibilities are pretty much unlimited within magic, as it is not chained to logic or reason, so its probably one of the best triggers to use when first starting out.

-Science. This is more technology based. Whether its a scientifically developed medication, implants, genetic modifications, nanomachines, etc. Usually futuristic, but doesn't necessarily need to be. It can also be an "experiment gone wrong" sort of thing as well. Keep in mind that many scientific expansions are tied to reality in a way, so you have to keep more factors in mind than in magic expansion, such as stretch lines, weight, metabolism, and basic female anatomy (i.e. she can't grow so fast that she might rupture or explode...unless that is what you're aiming for). This can be an especially tricky trigger type to use, but it isn't impossible by any means.

-Other. Yeah, kind of a cop out I suppose, but this is pretty much the category that fits everything else. I can't think of many triggers that don't relate to those two genres up there, but I'll be damned if they don't exist somewhere.

Some categories can blend together too. Like the magic cream one. That can be either a magically enchanted lotion, or a scientifically devised one. The only change is the consequences of the category. Magic seems to be more fantasy and, like I said, isn't chained by the bounds of reality, while science needs to be grounded in some sort of "realistic" ideal.

Now then, when you have the category in mind, find something special to do with it. Magic spells that merely cause expansion are all well and good, but try to be creative about it! You have the basic idea, but go further into it. A spell that causes the woman to grow whenever she lies, sneezes, drinks milk, eats a certain food, etc, etc. Nanomachines that overreact when exposed to too much gamma radiation. If you are going for a self controlled story, make sure the main female character has a grasp on the cause. If she has to figure out herself, after she finally does, give her a sense of empowerment of some kind, or make her worried and not want to do it again.

Again, triggers are pretty much where you want to start when it comes to writing. Most of my ideas came to mind while I was just thinking aimlessly about things. Stories always seemed to just form around them. It isn't always necessary however! It is perfectly fine to start with a specific character/person in mind and base it around the universe they are set in. Like you were to write a Mario fanfic and you wanted Rosalina expand. What in that universe would cause her to grow? Mushrooms, obviously, but try to also think outside the box. Think of something that isn't painfully obvious and you'll draw in readers, as long as its not contrived or a deus ex machina or anything.
