The finished 2nd interior illustration for "Kushiel's Chosen!" It depicts a scene in Ch. 81 where Queen Ysandre de la Courcel marches through a shower of coins back into Terre d'Ange. You can pre-order the limited edition book at Subterranean Press's online store. Always a delight to work with AD Yanni Kuznia!
"Kushiel's Chosen I," acrylic & colored pencil on watercolor paper, 12.5" x 28", unframed, $3800 (for availability, contact email@example.com)
The finished dust jacket cover for "Kushiel's Chosen!" Personally, dust jackets are probably one of the harder illustration tasks to conquer -- making sure everything, from one side flap to the other, lines up perfect with the book measurements while composing a continuous image that also works aesthetically in sections.
The illustration, which depicts Phedre enveloped by Asherat of the Sea and Melisande, along with two interior plates (coming soon) will be featured in Subterranean Press's limited edition release of the book. Lots of <3 to the art director Yanni Kuznia and author Jacquline Carey for having me onboard again!
Part of my ongoing series of tattoo girls for the LAX/PDX II group exhibition opening up on June 9th at Antler gallery (curated by Thinkspace Projects)! Hope you can make it if you're in the Portland area.
