"As a Reaper in Training, Mavis's responsibility is to guide pets, strays, and smaller wilderness animals into their afterlife (the afterlife for animals is different from the one for people). Due to her gaunt, hollow appearance because of... well, being dead, she's only allowed to show herself to the living one day out of the year: the spookiest day of the spookiest month!"

I really enjoyed remaking this, I think she fits the whole vibe of spooky month much better now

she doesn't have much to do with the main plot, she'd likely just be a side/background character

maybe she'd have a short or something of her befriending Skid and Pump on Halloween but completely disappearing the next day then showing up next year and that just becomes her thing

Personality wise I'd say she's easily excitable but sweet, and has a soft spot for animals of any kind and treats them with patience and respect when guiding a soul

she really doesn't like bullies and won't hesitate to stand up to them despite being small (she can still defend herself very well)

Backstory: Mavis's life ended before it officially began. her soul didn't develop like a ghost, however; it had a body. a solid, semi-functional body. Curious, the Grim Reaper chose to take her in specifically and raise her. Mavis sees him as a mentor/father figure.
