Some new stuffs... Bajema's Web: ret·ro·spec·tive 1998-2012 The first coffee table style art book of my work has been published -I'm terribly giddy about it! It includes all of my Bete Noire, Sepia Stains, and artwork that spans the last fourteen years of my professional life. Two of my favorite artists were kind enough to include something in the book for me - Joachim Luetke wrote the foreword (in the style of a dreaming Luetke being led through my art-space by a somewhat grumpy squirrel! If you know me you'll get why that's awesome,) and Gerald Brom gave me an incredible quote for the back. My little artist fangirl heart nearly exploded

Holidays

Holidays

My goal was to get my deviantart updated with prints to sell for the Holidays - but the holidays are so sucky this year, we couldn't even swing the printing membership - So I added prints of all of my works to RedBubble for the time being ( http://www.redbubble.com/people/insectsangels/collections/113005-myke-amend ), which includes big sized posters (really cheap), and an Airships and Tentacles 2012 Calendar, oh... Tee shirts based on my engravings as well... all in a humorous but steampunk vein. If you have the time, please go and give them a look. If this season starts looking up, I plan to put all of my artworks up as prints here as wel

A Call for Help bringing a hugework of art to life

I don't know how many people following me read the journals, but right now I am hoping a lot of you at least skim them. My friends and I want to build a 20 foot tall kinetic sculpture, with a 25 foot long, 8 foot tall spinning painting in the middle, which will also feature a zoetropic animation (like the old victorian style animation you may have seen on "The House on Haunted Hill". It will have animated sculptures around it too - all powered by wind - and all electricity powered by wind. We will also have a display of steam engines and generators as art, and will be showing people how to build these thingsfrom things around the home. To

The Infernal Device

The Infernal Device

The Infernal Device is a large mechanical animated sculpture we would like to build for this year's ArtPrize event, an event that brings hundreds of thousands of people to downtown Grand Rapids for 19 straight days. The bar, is a very high one, with sculptures the size of large houses, paintings covering entire buildings, drawings spanning the largest gallery walls - and we have a fantastic and over-the-top concept we feel is bound to win.... we only need the parts and space to build it. Our team consists of steampunk/retrofuturist painter and engraver Myke Amend, enginartist Steve Brook and steam modeler Todd Cahill - as well as team membe
