Yes, exactly. This is one of my first hand-cut pieces from wood. When I started using wood I always broke my piece during cutting. So finally, I used 2 layers (one thin 1/16'', second thicker 1/32'') - I glued them together (perpendicularly) using strong wood glue and then I cut the shape. Now I use only 3 layers of  1/16'' wood. I think it is strong enough when it survives my hand-cutting...   I always break so many blades in my saw, I should use less power.    By 'gorchet' you mean 'gorget'? Sorry, English is not my first language, so I had to google it and found nothing.
