I'm feeling very sad because I miss posting on here and drawing dumb oc's and feeling like a kid. I used to be able to look back at art from a year ago and laugh at how bad it was/how much I've improved, but now I look back at old art and I haven't improved in the slightest, or it's something better than I can make now.

Y'know what it could be?
I think its cause as you get older, you kind of worry more about getting it right more than
having fun showing off your ideas. Like, you take the criticism to heart and carry it over to your work and you improve..
but you kind of lose the wonder in the process.
Kind of like magic in some way? You find out hows its made and performed and once you learn the tricks, it stops being fun on a personal level :P
Maybe, MAYBE
..what you need is to see the fun in entertaining people again with your art? Y'know, when you're young
its kind of easy to 'WOW' classmates as that art kid because everyone is doing their thing and looking for distractions
and see your art as super awesome but then they get older and are like' Wow, thats really cool! But I can't hang around for long,
gotta pay the bills!' and your audience kind of evaporates irl and url. No audience to show off your magic.
Might explain why memes are a thing? idk
I think its down to seeing the wonder in the world around you again, and channeling it into your artwork :P
Maybe you need to go hobo and be a travelling artist with friends or something? Might be an idea, could even do installation art or something to see what you can do with all the art skills you've developed over the years?

it's been like what 4-5 years since I first met you on that skype chat and I swear you have improved tons!!!!! honestly, I enjoy seeing what little art that you post on both here and on twitter. You improve at different rates during our art journey jut right now you're just on a slow incline. Just try anything, I'm sure you will be ok! Also, don't forget you have people to support you on the way!

I definitely get how you feel :- ( i guess i don't really know how i deal w that feeling... it seems like something that might feel bad but might just be normal for artists. i think it would b best 2 acknowledge the feeling but don't let it get in the way of drawing how u want.

Hmm, perhaps taking a time to see your works through a different standpoint could help. For now, I would consider taking a break or trying something different, just to break the blues.

Painfully familiar my friend, the only way to deal with I've found  it is to give yourself some slack (it ain't just for subgeniuses! ) There's a lot of people here at D.A. who like your stuff and no doubt elsewhere as well. So give yourself a break, don't bullyrag yourself (I'm bad about that myself ) Sometimes we are our worse critic. So, don't worry, the blues and sad times pass. And soon you'll realize you had nothing to worry about.
And if you need to, note me and we'll talk about things and stuff if you'd like.

:iconredgreenplz::iconsaysplz: I'm pullin' for you.

grabs you by the shoulders and sets you down on the sofa

Listen here pal
The amount of improvement you've made from when I first saw your art in 2014-2915 to now is astonishing. You've come so far in just a few years that it's literally so inspiring to both me and others I've spilled about your art to.

If you want to draw silly OCs, even just a sketch here or there, you go for it. Do what makes you happy. Just a stick figure on paper? idc do it

As for improvement how dare you insult one of my favorite artists huh
I'm not sure how you don't see improvement, but as someone with outside perspective I sure as hell do. Even just with the small things you occasionally post here or elsewhere. You're a big name artist in the making, (already are one now honestly) and I can't wait to spill about how I got to see your progress every step of the way.

Sappy? maybe
Do I care? no

Even if you think your growth has slowed a little, it's still happening

Shoot me a discord pm any time u need someone to point that out, I will be waiting with a foam bat named 'Love for Bailey' ready to beat you on the head with
