Yes it's been a while. Sorry I don't do journal much anymore. I mostly check my inbox and comment on stuff these days. I haven't posted art on here since May 2018. There is a good reason for that. (Don't worry I will be posting my art on here again.) To help you understand why this happened let me take you through the months.
- June and July:
I decided to do a project with my art. (More details about it below) It was because of this project that I spent a lot of time during these two months and well you guessed it I didn't upload anything.
This was suppose to be my month to relax between working on my project for the past two months and going to do it again in the next month. However I did some drawings during the first two weeks of the month. That and I was going to finish up the drawings I started in June and July.
Here we are in September and I still haven't finished all of the drawings from the last three months. That didn't stop me from doing the project again this month.
The beginning of the month was quite awful...had some rough stuff happening in my life. Luckily things smoothed out close to the middle of the month just in time for a convention I was going to. Which is the next thing to talk about. Went to it and had an amazing time like I have the past three years I have been to it. As you can see between the rough stuff of my life and this convention I didn't finish my drawings from the past FOUR months. *Sighs.* As you can see they really are stacking up. I was going to do three drawings for Halloween, but will have to wait until I finish some more drawings to start them.
Now we are in November and I still have drawings...waiting to be outlined, colored, edited, and/or posted. Quite a huge stack. I've got 30 from June, 31 from July, 14 from August, and 30 from September. Throw in a drawing I started in May (That I haven't finished yet), a random drawing I did at the beginning of October, and a birthday drawing and you've got 108 drawings not completed (Yes that is the exact amount. I did the math). Yes I know that is a lot of drawings to finish and I have ideas for two new ones, plus I want to do some Christmas ones. December will be here before I know it.
Don't worry other drawing series I started or have said I am going to be doing will be done. Just need to get some stuff done before I start anything else. Now I bet you want to know what is this project I have been talking about. Some of you I have told some about it, but it is time you know about why I started this project, what it is all about, and even why it could interest you. I hope what I'm about to tell you about will interest you and you will see that I have been working hard these past few months to bring this project to together.
Everything in the section from the line above to the line toward the bottom of the journal is about my Project Chibi! If you are coming from one of my Project Chibi draws check out this section for more info on the project. If you look at multiple Project Chibi drawings you only need to read this once.)
I give you...
What is Project Chibi? - I wanted a way to challenge myself and I'd never done a project this big before with my art. (No matter if it was for college classes or for my own fun) It started with wanting to find a way to celebrate Mutou Yuugi's birthday. I was going to do a drawing every day. However the drawings I was doing at the time take quite a long time to create (For me that is). Doing one every day for 30 days and getting them done in a timely manner was going to be hard. Then I thought of doing chibi drawings of Yuugi. It would allow me to get them done quicker and still have 30 drawings. That became my goal for the project.
Then became the fun part...how exactly should I draw Yuugi? The answer to this question was important to figuring out what I would draw every day. Then I decided to break it down into these four categories (Since there are usually four full weeks in a month):
- Original - Anything that Kazuki Takahashi created for Yuugi from his Season 0 outfit to his Darkside of Dimensions movie outfits would fall under this category.
- Animals and Creatures - Exactly what it sounds like. I get to turn Yuugi into all kinds animals and creatures.
- Crossover - Yuugi would be a character from another anime, cartoon, video game, show, or movie that isn't Yu-Gi-Oh!
- Story - My chance to bring designs I had done for him for my story ideas with him in them to life or bring designs I had already done for him to chibi form.
As you can see June has two extra days after I had done four weeks of chibis based on these four categories. That is why I did bonus ones. What are the bonus ones? Well you will have to wait until I post them. After I was on the last few days of the project I realized I enjoyed it so much that another spiky haired person was having their birthday next month. That's right I did it with Yami Yuugi this time. However since July has 31 days I did 3 bonus drawings.
Since the Kingdom Hearts III video game is coming out next year (and I was in the middle of re watching walkthroughs for all of the Kingdom Hearts games to catch up on the story line up and refresh my memory) I did drawings for 14 characters from the series. Once again you have to wait until I post them to see who they are.
Back to Yu-Gi-Oh! characters...Bakura and Ryou Bakura have birthdays in September, so once again I grabbed my pencil and got to work creating four more weeks worth of chibis. (Most of them ending up being Bakura) Two bonus drawings happened this time. Yes I hope to do more for this project in the future, because to me this project will never be finished.
There certainly were lots of challenges along the way with designing new outfits, making crossover outfits work, thinking of what to draw, and even things that were difficult to draw. Although there is something else I want to do with these chibis. That is making...
I thought a great way I can share my cute little chibis is by making them into buttons. Luckily I have a program I am going to try out and see if it can help me with this. I have faith in it. Hopefully I can sell these buttons and if you are interested in one once I get started with making them let me know.
(End of Project Chibi description.)
I hope that you guys will bare with me as I finish up this part of the project and that you will support me in this big step I have taken with my art. Balancing this with the rest of my life isn't easy. To end off this journal I want to ask this...of the three major things from my life (Recently that I can think of) would you guys like to hear about in my next journal. They are...
- Anime convention!
- Manga! Revisiting and adding on!
- Story ideas spilling out my ears!
Which ever one gets the most votes I will talk about in my next journal. If no one votes for anything then I will pick one. I don't know when I will do another journal, but had to update you guys a little saying I am still alive over here and working on art. Hope you guys didn't worry about me! Please comment and let me know what you thought about what I wrote! Until next time!
