I don't know what species it is. I found it under a lamp in my house in Jakarta, Indonesia. Thanks.

It's a Jumping Spider of some species, with the typical characteristic huge puppy-dog eyes that Jumpers have, but I'm not familiar with the exact species found in Indonesia. All Jumpers are harmless to humans, though.

Thanks for the info, pitbulllady. It's so small, about less than 5 mm, it's hard to think it can be harmful.

It's NOT harmful at all, but size has little to do with it. Our native Black Widow spiders and Brown Recluse spiders in North America aren't typically large at all, but are both highly venomous. Black Widow bites can be fatal in humans, and Brown Recluse bites can cause a horrific wound that keeps getting larger and won't heal for months, sometimes years. Tarantulas, the largest spiders of all, mostly have venom that has little if any effect on humans at all.

Yeah. There are TV documentaries I watched which depicts the injurious effect of spider venom in US. I think the effect is excerbated by allergic reactions of the victim. Curiously, in Indonesia there is no concern at all for spider bites. Probably just phobia but no medical concerns here. Thanks for the info, pitbulllady!
