To quote a wise frog named Kermit, "It's alright, children. Life is made up of meetings and partings."
When I first met Luca he was 13 years old. Last night, at 16, we said goodbye to him. I knew entering into our relationship that it would be a finite one, but I also knew that I was going to give him the most banger retirement that I possibly could. Luca, in his ornery, smug, rascally glory, was loved every day of his life with me. But now his face was full of cancer that made it hard for him to eat and breathe. We wanted to let him go while he was still himself. He faded away in the arms of his mom who cherished him. Who could ask for a more comforting end?
I'm in pain but I'm OK. It hurts to say goodbye to a dear friend. True love is painful but is there a truer love than that between a human and a pet? Would I adopt another senior pet in the future? Absolutely. A short, awesome friendship is just as, if not more, rewarding than a long relationship.
Love you, Luca, my big boy, our Mister Man. Don't give Volta and Soni too hard a time.
PS: Zampa was given the good stuff by the vet and has made a nice recovery. She is Luca's age; how lucky are we to have her with us while we're dealing with our loss?
Hi all. Liz's sweet old cat Zampa was able to go to the emergency vet the other night, and she's been stabilized (the cat, not Liz, Liz is still freaked out). Fortunately, Zampa has been doing very well since Saturday, and is going to see our family vet tomorrow. Meanwhile, in other falling-apart-cat drama, my own elderly feline Luca is doing pretty badly. He was adopted as a senior and we knew his time with us would be finite, but he's taken a downward turn as of very recently. So anything left over from the Zampa misadventure will be used to treat Luca.
Thank you to everyone who showed up for me and my family when asked for help, whether it was from purchases, donations or kind words. Zampa is a tender marshmallow of an elderly baby and Luca is a rotten old cagey bastard who loves only me. We'll cherish them for as long as we have them in our lives.
Also I have a twice younger, much healthier cat named Sweet Pepper, and she says hi, incidentally! She's the low-maintenance Lisa Simpson of the family...
We have a family emergency. Liz's sweet cat Zampa needs to go to the emergency vet. I'm taking THREE 2-character color commissions right now. $150 per piece. These will be done asap and will be collabs between me and :iconvirgoslantern:.
If you would be willing to donate anything to help Zampa, here is my kofi: https://ko-fi.com/mustlovefrogs
Kae, what colorful upcoming fantasy movies do you care about? NOT MANY! I still haven't even seen Inside Out 2, which I heard is actually really good.
WICKED? I'm going to give this one every inch of leeway. I love this musical. I don't know if they can screw it up if they just let it be itself; they'd have to try really hard. Yes, I'm already aware of the fact that the female leads have more romantic chemistry between them than anyone does with the male, no need to point that out.
MOANA 2? Moana is great, more Moana is even greater. I'm not mad about the simple fact that it's a sequel. Again, it would be hard to screw this up, just so long as they don't try to make it something it's not. A fun swashbuckling, character-driven adventure story, please. Don't give her more than 17 or 18 pointless costars ffs. It worked in Encanto and Moana is not Encanto.
CGI LION KING RETCON? At least the animals open their eyes all the way now, and they seem to have some muscles in their faces. I hear Kimba's in this one. Star power.
SNOW WHITE LIVE ACTION REBOOT? Ain't nobody gonna be happy about this. Might wanna...like...not make this movie. Or something.
My birthday is soon upon us! Some extraordinarily sweet people have asked, "Kae! Can I get you anything for your birthday?" And the answer is "Yes, you darling, the gift of coffee!" With my Kofi link you can send me a couple bucks if you're of a mind to do so. Happy International Kae Day!
