Well I'm finally back on dry land. anyone miss me?
We went up to Roche Harbor, WA where the annual Bayliner Meet was taking place.
We started from Elliot Bay in Seattle, and worked our way up. On the way up, we passed a pod of orcas and a couple of porpoises also. The whole trip took about 5 hours one way.
When we finally arrived in Roche Harbor, the weather was beautiful, couple of clouds in the sky, seals in the water. We basically ended up just chilling and comparing other yachts and boats to ours.
started out ok, slept in. Then my friend and I decided to go on a trip. So we got on the bikes and decided we'd try to make the 20 or so mile trip to Friday Harbor. Unfortunatly, we didnt look at the weather, and we were forced to turn around. I was able to get a few shots of some old roads tho, so it wasnt a total loss. Got back, changed and went out to dinner, then sat and watched the sunset.
started earlier, around 6:30. Most everyone else was asleep, so i grabbed my breakfast (a can of Dr. Pepper), then walked to the edge of the marina, sat down, took a few photos, and just watched the seals and birds all around. Few hours later, had some donuts and my friend and I decided to try again for Friday Harbor, this time by bus. We had to get a coax cable for one of the tvs on the yacht and there was a place in town we could get it. Plus theres the famous Hot Shop, which just sells hot sauce.
So we arrive in downtown Friday Harbor, and the first thing we decide on doing is getting some hot sauce. We try many sauces, the hottest of which was 234,000 scoville units. After roasting our tongues with stupidly hot sauces, we purchased some sauces and left to find some food. We find this little hole-in-the-wall pizza joint and ate some pizza, then had some of the famous ice cream. Got back on the bus, and headed back to the yacht.
Got back on the yacht, went out to dinner, and came back and watched the fireworks show that Roche Harbor had. Was a good show, enjoyed it alot. Decided it was a good night to sleep outside, so i slept on the top level of the yacht.
Woke up, and got ready for breakfast, went out to eat, and waited a long time for food, which finally arrived. Ate the food and went back to pack on the yacht. Packed eveyrthing up, and we soon set off toward the horizon. was very choppy on the way back, and i was able to nap through most of the trip. Ended up back in Elliot Bay and unpacked.
So here I am. back at home, and it still feels like I'm on the water. Oh well, maybe some sleep will help.
