I'll give it to my next future generations later...

Very retro, what is the font you used? It reminds me of Magneto font.

I think it was Deco Tech, all lowercase.  I love that font! :la:

After our conversations, I somehow managed to not :+fav: this... but i've rectified that situation.

Excellent! Thank you! ^__^

Oh geez, I didn't even realize... the 1939 world's fair was the first time the Hammond Novachord (the first commercially available synthesizer) was heard. It was something like 500 pounds I believe, full of well over 100 vacuum tubes...

Wow, that's crazy! I didn't realize synthesizers went back that far! I wish I could have gone to the 1939 fair--I've seen videos of some of the exhibits online, and it looked like the coolest thing EVER! :D

Here's a video of the Ford building (where the novachord was introduced-- Henry Ford was actually the first man to order a Hammond organ... he put in a pre-production order for 6 of them... so it makes sense that Hammond would introduce the novachord in the Ford building)

Guess it must have been shot with Kodachrome... I'm not used to seeing color footage from the 30's, but it is the worlds fair, so I'm sure they had to have the best of modern technology to film it...

I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords!

Very wise of you! With that attitude you will most likely be spared. :B
Volk-oseba's avatar
Of course i'll be spared, I can solder!
MurderousAutomaton's avatar
Ha, ha! A very valuable skill indeed. You'll be a medic! :XD:
Volk-oseba's avatar
De-soldering could give me some political clout in the robot society :iconevilgrinplz:

Oooh, that's true--but be careful not to bite the claw that feeds. :XD:

I'd have to keep the buggy robots in line.

Thanks! I love the 1939 World's Fair. Breaks my heart that I'll never be able to go... at least until I invent a time machine... :XD:

How do you go about doing that grainy gradient effect? That's something I haven't been able to figure out.

I mean I know how to a gradient, but how you get that spotty grain feel thats so indicative of Art Deco
MurderousAutomaton's avatar
It's just a film grain filter in Photoshop, under the "Artistic" menu. It really comes in handy for art deco pieces! :D
Banjoenelbano's avatar
Thank you, I'll keep that in mind next time I try some Deco
