Bess was named for the storied steed of the highwayman, Dick Turpin.  Like her namesake, Bess is bold, brave, and fiercely loyal.  More of an endurance runner than a sprinter, she can gallop all day and come back for more the next day.  Legs of steel.  We suspect she carries the "X factor". 
 
Bess is  HM Almost Black's dam, and MoNo's grandam.
