So, I have just put another couple of months worth of hard work behind me. Even if the months ahead aren't exactly devoid of work either, I'm finally looking forwards to having time for "me" things again. I feel like I'm saying the exact same thing around here each time I make a journal entry, but hey..
For almost half a year now I have been learning the art of 3D modeling, its been all kinds of great, but now I'm really looking forwards to just fooling around with it properly. Hasn't been much time for that since we started, focus has been placed squarely with the tasks at hand. Work in Zbrush got cut short as well, as I didn't really have all that much use for it in my last model. I did however make note of how the basic concept of a tree (the roots) we put through the Zbrush motions could make for an excellent octopus. So, I think that'll have to take a closer look at it.
Beyond that, I have begun work on my next (and) super secret Star Wars costume/armor project. It'll be a long crawl with this one I think, even the Scout Trooper is likely to come to fruition before this project is finished. But the helmet is a start, and more than enough work on its own.
Making props, armor and costumes like this has in many ways become an extension of and replacement to my time building and painting miniatures and models. It's pretty much the exact same thing, only at a 1:1 scale. Besides, unlike the old miniature wargame armies, I actually get opportunities to use this and have a great time with it.
Life is a busy thing, and I'm probably no wiser as to where I'm going now than I have ever been. But, who cares when you are having fun?
