Pseutro 1.1.3 by muckSponge Pseutro 1.1.3 by muckSponge

Flat, clean, crisp, simple.

A Windows 8.1-inspired theme for Firefox

This theme is designed to give you that "Metro" feel within your favourite desktop browser. Yeah, you could say it's kinda like Metro.

Please note that the light variation of this theme will be released after the dark version. We need to wait until the release is reviewed by Mozilla's editors to ensure it is safe for general consumption before we branch the theme into the light version, so hang tight and we'll have a light version for you soon.

From your friendly developers, SoapyHamHocks and muckSponge.

I have noticed that this wonderful theme is abandoned for quite some time (especially the light version). I believe it is quite unfortunate for this to happen but I believe I have the required skills to update it or even improve on your work, muckSponge. So now I am asking for permission to use your code as a base for a derivative of mine. Credit will be given to whom it belongs so there is no need to worry about that. And I am only asking for permission because I would love to share a working build of this theme with other people.

Go for it. Just make sure you give credit to both me and SoapyHamHocks and link back to the original theme. Good luck!

Could you supply some more information. What does that text say in English, and what version of Firefox are you using?

Our goal is within a month. Pseutro Light will probably be discontinued and we will make Pseutro a light theme like the interactive mockup in my journal post. Work has already begun on this in another branch.

Ummmm... not compatible with Mozilla Firefox 30? :( I got Pseutro 1.1.0 RC2 installed and that's working... strange...

Yeah, I added CSS variables back and stable doesn't support them yet (only Firefox 31+). The layout.css.variables.enabled pref in about:config enables CSS variable support but it is using an out dated syntax that is incompatible with Pseutro :facepalm:. Basically, right now you've gotta be using Beta, Aurora or Nightly. Hopefully this will change when stable moves from 30.0 to 31.0 :)

aaaaa, well no problem :D if it works on 31.0 I can switch on that :D even better :D I usually use the Stable version of Mozilla to avoid incompatibility with addons. I'll try if the other addons work and will also install Pseutro 1.1.0 :) Thanks for replying :D

Hahah, most of the time my add-ons are either incompatible with everything or compatible with beta or higher... really hard to develop for stable sometimes, and in this instance I really wanted to use CSS variables to fix a bug so it could finally get reviewed but yeah, only compatible with 31.0 :)

It should be part of the new Australis UI in Firefox 29. It is anchored to the right in the toolbar and you can't remove it without add-ons or code.

Following a few bugs: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.… and bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.… it looks like CSS variable support might just be hidden behind a pref in Beta and maybe the stable release: layout.css.variables.enabled. Looks like by the time stable hits 31.0, that pref will be enabled by default. Until then people might have to enable it manually which kinda sucks.

Yeah, I'm just waiting until this version gets officially reviewed by Mozilla so I know I won't have to make any changes before I branch the build into a light version and a dark version.

The light version will also require CSS variable support, which Mozilla keep removing from the beta and stable Firefox builds for no apparent reason so it may only be compatible with Aurora and Nightly until Mozilla get their act together.

I don't know if it's just me but the tab don't sit flush with the top, making it somewhat harder to click.

Is it possible to write a userstyle to customize this? I'm hearing something about CSS not working tho.

It should be fixed in the next version.

In the meantime you could possibly mess around with:

#TabsToolbar
{
margin-top: 4px !important;
}

Change that value until you get the desired result. You might need something like:

#main-window[maximized] #TabsToolbar

Instead. I'm planning on having a new version out very soon so stay tuned.

It should work. The next version (1.1.0RC2) yet to be released has been updated to look better on Win7. There's a horrible bug when using the Basic theme but apart from that it should work fine.

ok, I have the current alpha installed but none of the settings change anything so I'm guessing that will be fixed with (1.1.0RC2) for FF 29.

None of which settings?

1.1.0RC2 will have CSS variables removed so that it works with Firefox 29.0+ and then following up on that, 1.1.1 will have CSS variables added back in and will work only on Aurora and Nightly (because currently they are the only builds that support CSS variables) and this will be the build I'll be working with after this point. For the time being. I'll try to get these versions out ASAP.

On a side note, Mozilla moved Firefox 30.0 over to the Beta channel from Aurora but they didn't keep the CSS variables functionality for some reason, so my theme went from being compatible with 30.0 to not being compatible with 30.0 at all. Essentially, Mozilla is screwing me around at the moment and there's not much I can do to fix it until I release 1.1.0RC2.

I ended up downgrading Firefox back to 28 because too many issues with a lot of my addons. :(

Maybe in a few months, I'll try again and check out your stuff then too.

Even your latest version doesn't work properly without status4evar :(

status4evar messes with the XUL quite a bit so it might take us some time to work out what they are doing and why it isn't working. I'll keep it in mind though.

Could you make it so that the search bar is readable? All I see right now is this: i.imgur.com/ZvZL5KQ.png

That screenshot has no context. I need a screenshot of the search bar and the rest of the window to see what is going on. That doesn't even look like a search bar, just a really long white rectangle with text in it saying "not working". How exactly is it not working and how is it unreadable? I can read the text fine and the search bar in my build (which has not changed) with Firefox 29.0 works as expected.

That's because the search bar is a really long white rectangle.

In that screenshot it looks like it should. You've got the search provider dropdown button on the left and the search button on the right, all inside a semi-transparent (until focused, when it becomes white) rectangle. That is how it should look; basically the same as the urlbar. The other screenshot was literally just a rectangle with text.

So what exactly is the problem? It looks fine to me from your most recent screenshot.
