Kickstarter Update 7: The Call of Cthulhu D20 coveOne of the best parts about writing an art book is getting the chance to explain old stories about the creation process of various pieces. In the seventh update for my art book Kickstarter we share insight into the development of the old Call of Cthulhu D20 cover created by A.S. Koi and myself back in 2002.

Art Book KickstarterI have been working on an art book for nearly three years and we just launched the Kickstarter this morning. I partnered up with Strix Publishing for the book and have been focused on sculpting rewards for it since the first of the year. The book itself is a solid retrospective of my work over the past eighteen years. It has been an amazing project!

Unhallowed Metropolis Revised pre ordersFor nearly five years my writing partner Nicole Vega and I have been working Unhallowed Metropolis, the gas mask chic role-playing game of Neo-Victorian horror. After the initial print run of the core book sold out back in 2009 (it was released in 2008), it is finally coming back into print from Atomic Overmind Press and is due for a worldwide release this September.
From our publisher:
"Set two-hundred years after the advent of the zombie Plague, Unhallowed Metropolis, Revised is an apocalyptic Neo-Victorian dystopia written by Jason Soles and Nicole Vega. Inspired by the works of Mary Shelley, Edgar Allen Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson, and painstakingly researched by the authors, Unhallowed Metropolis provides a rich role-playing experience steeped in alchemy, mad science, and undeath."
The game features truly amazing art, including a full-color cover by photo-sculptor George Higham with int

YouTube stuff + Update stuffSo, things are little bit hectic right now, and YouTube has been giving me a bit of hassle lately. I seem to have been losing subscribers since my last stream on my main channel, with a very big loss on my last Animated Atrocities upload, which is worrying, especially because any theory that I've had towards the numbers doesn't fit all of the evidence. (If people were getting sick of me talking about Growing Around stuff, then I should have had a positive turnaround when I uploaded an Animated Atrocities video). Add to that that like every single video this year has been copyright claimed, and let's just say that things have been discouraging as of late.
Other than that, I'm trying to stay optimistic, although the hot summer is making that a little bit difficult. But, some stuff that's coming up I guess. Most importantly is my Animated Atrocity review - with the upcoming Rugrats reboot, it's time to tackle Angelica and Suzie Preschool Daze, that show there that lasted four episo

16 Examples of how NOT to Pitch a LoglineI joined a Twitter dealie where you pitch to agents over Twitter, and I swear I learned more in one day about pitching than I have reading any number of how-to-write books.
A logline is a one sentence pitch of your story. It can be used on Twitter, but it's also used in person as an elevator pitch. It's the distilled essence of stakes, story, and character. Some people find it frustrating and intimidating, but I find it easier to do a logline than a query.
I got a few bites from agents, so I was quite pleased. I gained a lot of sympathy for them around 3 in the afternoon, though. Every pitch starts looking the same, and the really, really stupid ones start standing out. Some suffer from bad metaphors, bland stakes, or simple incomprehensibility. I've got 16 examples right here for you, so if any of your loglines look like these, you may want to consider a rewrite. (Incidentally, don't post your own loglines for my perusal. I'm not going to sit here and tell a bunch of people they
Hyper-Surreal Fractal Chess Set - The GAMEThe 3D PRINTED
The Project I have been working on subconsciously for years, which I mentioned in my previous post is now finished.
--- The Hyper Surreal Fractalic Mystical Chess set - My Masterpieces ---
The full set is a play in 7 acts about humanity, the evolution and the quest for knowledge through enlightenment and superfluity until the day when mankind finally became the plague of the planet.
A chess set immensely more surreal than Max Ernsts, Marcel Duchamps and Dalís sets.
Chess was made to be played with pieces of pure fractal mathematics, I now know that!

- Maria Theresa while wearing The Hall of Mir
