I shave my legs & pits every few days because I hate hair and I like to be smooth. But I wouldn't shave me arms because it would be weird and nobody does that.

I'm a hairy fuck thanks to my dad's hairy fuck side of the family. Shaving the arms is something I'm kind of wanting to do lately, or at least getting them waxed as I've always been self-conscious about it. It's not really to conform, but I guess subconsciously it could be because I'm so used to being made fun of for it ever since I was in middle school.

As for shaving as a whole, it makes me feel prettier because I feel smooth. Smooth is pretty...hairy people associate with monkeys or something idfk lol.

I like feeling smooth, too! When I feel smooth, I feel more confident, even if no one is seeing my smooth skin. It's all psychological or something. Haha.

Shaving arms isn't bad; the only problem is it grows back all prickly like all other hair. But I felt self-conscious about my arms when a friend of mine who shaves them told me I had hairy arms and then I would notice the hair and I wanted it gone. But it grows back so fast that if I fall behind by like a day it's all pokey and I don't want anyone to make contact with my arms so I have to wear long sleeves. When I let it grow back out fully, it doesn't lie down; it kind of sticks out everywhere now. :T So I'm thinking I should start back onto shaving them soon.

I don't shave because I hate any part of my body being shown- so what's the point if no'one can see? I've never shaved before and I'm 18.

That is awesome. NEVER shave. Once you shave, you're cursed for life, because it grows back thicker, and itchy because your body gets vengeful or some shit. If I knew the consequences, I might have never started shaving. Then I would have nothing but very fine, light blonde hairs that no one would even see probably if I chose to wear shorts.

Aha I know- that's how comes I never started. I don't want to be tied down to something that I don't need to do just yet? I'm naturally quite hairy though, thanks to my masculinity.. /shakes fist

I don't think shaving (or not-shaving) any part of the body is gross if that's what people like or are comfortable with. :U I used to think arm-shaving was gross and unusual, but that's only because my mom and sister always said it was. But once I developed my own way of thinking, I realized, it doesn't really matter. It's their body and their hair, and it's not like it affects me. :>

I've always thought it was gross, I dunno just that one particular area is a part that doesn't have much hair so when I think of it I think of someone doing what carly did (I don't know if you knew this one) she cut herself like three inches shaving :l one long line of just scraped skin from the razor it was huge and nasty!

Oh. Then it must be the shock from when you saw that which keeps you thinking arm-shaving is gross or something. That would scar me for life, too. ;;

Her leg hair was thin (and trim able/ able to fully be chemically removed) so she scraped really hard and said "i didn't feel anything until I started bleeding" which is really sickening to me.

Even if society was acceptable to women not shaving, I would still shave my pits. I rather not stink all day than be hairy XD Because shaving helps to get rid of it and to remove it, because the purpose of your pits to have hair is to hold in the smells of sweat, because it helps to attracts mates because of some type of thing that's in our brains XD It's sort of like our way of animals sniffing each other saying hey are you ready for sex basically XD

But on another note if society was acceptable to not shaving, I WOULD show off my manry legs and be proud of them o3o/ -- but because it doesn't, I feel self-conscious about my whole body, not just because I'm showing skin or because I'm bit overweight and have layers, but because of hair. Hair is the reason why I ALWAYS wear a jacket, even in hot weather, because I WILL NOT shave my arms. It makes me self-conscious because people will see my 'hairy' arms and think ewww. It's just stupid, hair is hair. EVERYONE is born with it. It's natural. I mean, NO ONE thinks about young girls having hairy legs and arms and pits much but once they get to a certain age, like teenage years, it's like, eww that's gross. Well, that was how it used to be, now it's like, the second you start growing leg or pit hair, oo you HAVE to start shaving because it's feminine Pfff

The ONLY reason why it's 'gross' for a woman to not shave, is because we have been brainwashed into thinking so. I mean, look back into like the 16 or 1800s. You really think woman shaved then? No. Oh, well, because they didn't have razors then. BLAH! NO, because it's freakin HAIR. No one really cared. When the razor -- or whatever the first version of it was -- came out, IT WAS NEW. So, because we're human and that's what we do, oo this is new, it's cool, Imma try it out. It's like phones, if you don't have the latest, you're looked down upon by people who do. It's just stupid.

PIT SHAVING IS NECESSARY FOR MY SURVIVAL. I do not want itchy or smelly pits. XD Still, I only shave them every other shower or when I notice them. XD

I also agree in terms of leg-shaving. And arm hair isn't necessarily considered gross YET. Most women don't shave their arms, but once it becomes the social norm to do that, then WOOOP! everyone is going to have to do it to feel comfortable in short sleeves. It's so stupid. Life would be easier if social acceptance wasn't so important, but being looked down on or thought of as gross or abnormal really affects people, often more than they'd admit. :c There's not much of a way to change that. Unless some famous people get together and start trending hairy legs or something. XD

Exactly, but the 'main' reason your pits itch is because you shave them. When you shave hair, it becomes brittle, which is why you have those stupid stubbles :I Once it grows out a bit, it's not so bad -- personal experience with my manry-ness XD

And yes, but I still feel self-conscious with the arm thing because I see alot of girls around me that do shave. And that's what makes me mad. It's only acceptable or 'changed' because some popular or famous person does it or alot of people do it. Ooo, I want to be like them, lalala or 'everyone's' doing it, hurhurhur. It's like, come on. Just be yourself. Do what makes YOU comfortable. But that's a hard thing to do, because people judge and we all just want to be accepted. But unfortunately, that's impossible :/ There's always going to be that one person that thinks, everyone has to be like me to be 'correct' Pfff There's not a correct way to do ANYTHING. If you feel more comfortable with yourself with shaving, then shave, and if you hate shaving and rather not, fine by me also, just don't shave. It's just what makes YOU comfortable and feel right in your own skin that is CORRECT. People just can't seem to get that in their head, and media/TV/movies aren't helping with that matter. They say oo, be yourself, and even 'ugly' 'fat' girls get the hot guys, or 'nerdy' 'unattractive' guys get the hot babes, but then they go with, Oh, get this fragrance and you'll get all the honnies, or Get our shampoo, you'll finally have beautiful soft hair or get this razor, or have these clothes because it'll make you more fashionable. Or how they always use, thin beautiful woman or buff and attractive males to advertise with. It's just all stupid. Making people feel more unaccepted or ugly is just more money in their pockets I guess :T

rant rant rant XD personal issues bring out the bitter me lol

I know. I had a huge discussion with one of my friends recently about how we believe it's stupid that you have to shave to be considered socially acceptable as a female. :I Sometimes, I want to shave, but other times I don't care, and I wish society didn't care either.

yeah, and this is only ONE of MANY things women are pressured to do to "fit in." Like body image. Why is it okay for a man to be a little fat, but a woman?? no way, we're considered fat and unwanted by many. GOD... I could rant on and on about this, xD It's something I'm very bitter about. Must stop talking now!

That was me earlier. I wound up shaving because I thought about it and it's not like I had anything else to do. Even though no one's gonna see my legs or anything, I went ahead and did it for the sake of having a smooth surface to paw at because I like the feeling of smooth skin sometimes /SHROOG

The only issue with that is getting prickly in a few days, probably sooner than I'd like to say.

I've done that before because smooth surfaces are cool I guess but most of the time I just. Never shave. I mean I don't see a reason to? It doesn't bother me so wweh.
