WHAT IS THE TRUTH by MrsDrPepper WHAT IS THE TRUTH by MrsDrPepper
here i doodled a couple of 'inconsistencies' in my art of my sona which i acknowledge as all valid traits! what it boils down to is "she's real small" and "her wings are real small" but there's not really a set way of things

so this isn't like a "she has the power to change sizes" thing, i'm just showing here that her looks change based on what i feel like drawing, and the same is safe for any artist who will draw her!

other things can vary are:
-the size of her feets, which in my art range from too-itsy to moderately-sized lil ploppers. sometimes it's accidental how small i make them, but i do tend to shoot for petite for the most part
-her horns are sometimes more narrow (like here), and other times more chunky. again, up to the mood!

things that vary each time and honestly i don't really care about are: the points where her body colors change, where her tail bends, and which way her cheek marking swirls. none of that is specific

and finally, an inconsistency that IS a true mistake is when i forget to include her fourth toe/the lil foot thumb! oops

(anyways this was all an elaborate post to show pepper being hoisted like simba and also in a mug again)

Maybe it's like when Bryan Jacques received fan mail asking, "Are the animals in red wall 2 legged or 4 legged?" and he noncommittally answered, "However you prefer to imagine them."

a good reply from a good author!

on the subject of that, i always imaged the redwall critters to be primarily bipedal, but convert to being quadrupedal depending on the situation, whether they're scurrying to get away, heading up an incline, trying to run with more balance, etc. i imagine this especially with foxes, weasels, otters, and squirrels, and on a more regular basis for badgers and also any of the more 'feral' characters who live more apart from the larger groups of animals. so kind of like my sona, the way she isn't a very human-shaped anthro, so she fits into a quad pose naturally

i like how so much of the RW books can be interpreted however the reader wants, just in general. for example through my first reading of redwall when i was young, i had checked out a copy that didn't have an illustrated cover showing off the characters and i didn't know anything about the series, so for the longest time i imagined most of the characters actually being naked, and just a select some accessorizing when the book specifically suggested (habits, armor, etc). now that i've read more of the series and taken notice of how like all the characters are meant to wear clothes, it feels weird thinking about them going around naked even though they're animals..lol. but jacques does write in a way that encourages the imagination which is great
