SIRENS RANG OUT IN THE NIGHT
At gridlock
Just off center
square
Dodging the law
Staring out,
staring into space
An outcast, and an outlaw
at heart
Moving without motion
Shadows calling out
my name
Escaping from the
light
Into the black, all
the colors bled into
one
Angel faced
a trinket and a
crucifix
Draped around my
neck
A silver chain
and a silvery moon
Spirits rise
Spaces collide
The great divide
Starry eyed
Chasing ghosts
in the night
As the voices in my
head spoke back
to me
And the Devil that resurrected
me, turned on me
Walking with me and talking to the dead
A wise man once said,
"In the end there be nothing
left but one",
May God be your judge
Singing too, the Lord's prayer
Pleading for forgiveness
Taken to the light
A fallen halo and a silent prayer
Whispering winds
Ashes to ashes,
dust to dust
The Almighty, have mercy on my soul
