Here's a nice article outlining the state of Public Photography country wide where people are being stop searched and being treated like suspects. I know many of these stories have been told in various media in the past but it's nice to get the big picture (haha!) and see it all in one.

I myself have only had one encounter in Lee-on-Solent by 2 officers who stopped their car to ask what I was doing and thankfully the Gosport Force has some sense because I told them I was photographing the area and they bid their farewell. I don't know what I would have done though if it had turned ugly because back then I was not aware of the rights of taking photos on public land!

Edit*

An update to this, The Reg also has a new article outlining what you can photograph when you're out and about: www.theregister.co.uk/2008/06/…

Perhaps I'm starting to like the reg more now :p
