OK Well, I use Ultimate Clean Version 2 because that's what I like. And I still use the shell32 Details pane because it fixes what I poorly described in my last message. What's the risk of me using this still? Because I haven't had any issues.
MrGRiM01's avatar
mainly it effects Modern apps, I found that most apps won't install and some will not work at all.

Not for me. I works fine. But I've gone to old/new explorer because I've found an OK black theme that will work with it, so I just went ahead and did that to avoid what you're talking about although I've seen no issues. Thanks

Pardon my lack of ignorance here... But this program made my theme come in correctly at certain screens... Usually what I would manually have to do by switching shell32.dll files. But the oldnewexplorer doesn't do this and I'm stuck with an ugly white panel. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm writing this comment here just because it's faster (I don't have an account on msfn.org). Is there a possibility of top details pane in OldNewExplorer, or is it not possible?
MrGRiM01's avatar
It's possible but you need to have a custom shellstyle.dll with the shell32.dll UI files for the topshell present and I have those if needed.

Download link is corrupted. It downloads zip archive with screenshot of setup program.

Please read the artists comments before asking questions, I have clearly stated.

What if it doesn't work and the old one does? Huh? What about that, jackass?

Nice job! Where can I find the image resource for the pane?

Ok, so how do I revert back?
MrGRiM01's avatar
You can uninstall it from programs and features. it will require a restart, if it gets stuck just restart anyway and it will complete the job.

Thanks! Sorted it out.

My first question i still valid though... Do you - or anyone else - know where I can find the image resourse for the details pane? I know that the actual image CAN be skinned (I,ve seen - and tested - it in some of your themes), but I just can't find it in my theme (a heavily modified Dark8 theme). It's driving me nuts! I've dug through some of your themes and I find the images in the msstyles-files, but the resource number doesn't comply with the numbers in my theme file... I really need some help with this!
Could add an option to remove the command bar?  Since you already take into account having the ribbon disabled.. why not add an option to remove the command bar along with the options to move it top/bottom?  Still a nice app to have though.

Thanks.

The command bar can be disabled with a custom shellstyle.dll, there are plenty of themes that already do this, just use the shellstyle.dll from one of those themes, this is one for example you can use the shellstyle.dll from neiio.deviantart.com/art/Work-…
I made the suggestion for WB users.  WB no longer supports the importing of shellstyles.  Since your app already does the heavy lifting for takeowner and replacing files I just figured I would make the suggestion.

How did you add the additional files to the msstyle for control panel panes? I just can't find out how to add the "<8>" category and the files.

In the Windows Style builder install directory "AveApps\Windows Style Builder\Data\Win8" you need to find the ClassMap.xml and edit the relevant places to add the new classes.

Find:

<class description="Explorer List Items" name="ItemsView">

And edit the class to look like:

<class description="Explorer List Items" name="ItemsView">
<parts>
<part id="1" name="SearchQueryOutline">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Initial"/>
<state id="2" name="Transistioned"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="2" name="GroupHeaderExpander">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Normal"/>
<state id="2" name="Hover"/>
<state id="3" name="Pressed"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="3" name="ListItemNotFocused">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Normal"/>
<state id="2" name="Hover"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="4" name="Details">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Property"/>
<state id="2" name="Details View Default"/>
<state id="3" name="Selected"/>
<state id="4" name="Selected Property"/>
<state id="5" name="Compressed Folder"/>
<state id="6" name="Compressed Folder Selected"/>
<state id="7" name="Encrypted Folder"/>
<state id="8" name="Encrypted Folder Selected"/>
<state id="9" name="File Conflict Dialog Button"/>
<state id="10" name="File Conflict Dialog Button Selected"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="5" name="Search Label"/>
<part id="6" name="Folder background">
<states>
<state id="1" name="BigView"/>
<state id="2" name="SmallView"/>
<state id="3" name="RowView"/>
<state id="4" name="InfoView"/>
<state id="5" name="SpreadView"/>
<state id="6" name="ContentView"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="7" name="Genuine">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Background"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="8" name="Shell32">
<states>
<state id="1" name="ThemeLeftBar"/>
<state id="2" name="ThemeLeftBarShineLayer"/>
<state id="3" name="ControlPanelTopBar"/>
<state id="4" name="ControlPanelTopBarShineLayer"/>
</states>
</part>
<part id="9" name="Branding">
<states>
<state id="1" name="Background"/>
</states>
</part>
</parts>
</class>

The branding and genuine classes are only applicable if you are also using my custom systemcpl.dll, for the folder background you need the modified explorerframe.dll and the other ones you already know need the modified shell32.dll

These extras could be placed anywhere in the class maps, the only thing you need to make sure of is that the system files are also using the same classes.

Mark, this mod causes issues with the Windows Store apps......
Probably something to do with digital-signatures? Dunno. I do know that disabling the ribbon in 8.1, then installing this hack renders the new Windows Store useless; you get an error-message when trying to install new apps.
I love your mod in Win8, which worked great for me....but this one needs some re-doing I think.
MrGRiM01's avatar
Yeah I am aware of this problem, sadly this will not be fixed though, I have done all I can to get it working on Windows 8.1, the only solution is to run sfc /scannow and restore any modified files if you want new apps from the app store then install the mod again afterwards, hopefully some time in the future Tihy the developer of Start Is Back will release his Windows 8 Explorer improvement program which he plans on adding this feature back with, I expect it will work with some sort of dll injection hooking system similar to way he brought back the start menu.

Thanks for the reply bud---

I don't have it installed right now; I did it once, when I 1st set-up 8.1, then just removed it and re-enabled the ribbon, and everything went back to normal. Didn't have to do the sfc.
