Bonus Round Stand by mrentertainment Bonus Round Stand by mrentertainment
Also beginning in Season 7, the choice of a bonus round prize was changed. The prize was now determined by the contestant picking 1 of 5 envelopes from the word: W H E E L. On the Season 7 premiere, the contestant failed to solve the bonus puzzle and Pat put the unopened envelope back in it's holder, but from September 5, 1989 onward, he always opened the envelope after the round. Once a bonus prize was won, it was taken out of play for the rest of the week. This change was made because almost every contestant chose to play for the $25,000 or the car. Although the nighttime version changed to picking envelopes to determine the bonus prize, the daytime version still had contestant pick their own bonus prize. If the $25,000 was won, the sign would now lower after the envelope was opened and Charlie would announce several altering lines related to the cash. And also the lights no longer dimmed during the bonus round (which I wish they bring back because that's 1 of my favorite things about game show bonus rounds) and the drumroll at the start of the round was removed.

I don't own Wheel of Fortune. All copyright material is own by Sony, Califon Productions, and Merv Griffin.
