This should be coming out in the next few days, with the YouTube episode. YouTube has done a lot of shit over the years. I've complained about a lot of shit, but hopefully this puts everything that they've done in context. Everything from Google+ to their broken copyright system to the frightening double standards.
I didn't even get to go over everything in order to keep this part under half an hour (keep in mind that every episode of Technocracy is another piece of a bigger whole. It's all one documentary and I'll put it all together in one final piece when everything is done).
To put things in context, there's a YouTuber named Mumkey Jones who basically makes edgy jokes/content, but it was still within YouTube's guidelines. His videos had been demonetized in the past, but upon dispute they were remonetized. Out of nowhere, Mumkey's channels were deleted. One of them had no views because it was on private. And when it was deleted there was outcry about this, but his channel still has not been restored.
At the same time, there was someone who filmed himself brutally murdering a cat and uploading it to YouTube. People complained to YouTube, and... his channel is still up. I'm not going to link it because no one should see the damn thing. But as far as I can tell, although the guy was arrested, not only is his channel up, but the video that he made is still up.
Let me be clear - what you decide to stand against determines what you stand for. When you take down someone like Mumkey in what very clearly appears to be targeted, but you do not go after someone who brutally murders a cat... well, there's no other way to say it but YouTube supports cat murderers.
