Technocracy Title Card by MrEnter Technocracy Title Card by MrEnter
Update: Episode 1 can be viewed here www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbMs8N…

Art by www.deviantart.com/sleepycorvi…

This should be coming out in the next few days, with the YouTube episode. YouTube has done a lot of shit over the years. I've complained about a lot of shit, but hopefully this puts everything that they've done in context. Everything from Google+ to their broken copyright system to the frightening double standards.

I didn't even get to go over everything in order to keep this part under half an hour (keep in mind that every episode of Technocracy is another piece of a bigger whole. It's all one documentary and I'll put it all together in one final piece when everything is done).

To put things in context, there's a YouTuber named Mumkey Jones who basically makes edgy jokes/content, but it was still within YouTube's guidelines. His videos had been demonetized in the past, but upon dispute they were remonetized. Out of nowhere, Mumkey's channels were deleted. One of them had no views because it was on private. And when it was deleted there was outcry about this, but his channel still has not been restored.

At the same time, there was someone who filmed himself brutally murdering a cat and uploading it to YouTube. People complained to YouTube, and... his channel is still up. I'm not going to link it because no one should see the damn thing. But as far as I can tell, although the guy was arrested, not only is his channel up, but the video that he made is still up.

Let me be clear - what you decide to stand against determines what you stand for. When you take down someone like Mumkey in what very clearly appears to be targeted, but you do not go after someone who brutally murders a cat... well, there's no other way to say it but YouTube supports cat murderers.

Great title card. I can't help but imagine a world with reviewers all living in the same city that's entirely ran by corporations. We were blind to the true nature of these sites and found ourselves out of a job when companies decided to control what we can and can't say about their content. (While some places in the city are still part of the public domain, almost anywhere else is owned by a private company)

A cafe on the edge of the city is one of the only places reviewers can go without worry and always welcome to share their viewers on content sort of like a poetry readings.
-The Bar tender is played by Joey T C.Palooza.
-Rebel Taxi is seen with his podcasters.
-Cellspex, RoboBuddies, Gem Reviews, Shadow Strider, Pieguy ect. are regular customers in the place.
-Lewtoons takes center stage to talk about a new show even though he's been out of the game for awhile
-Passed out on a barstool after drinking 6 bottles of soda pop, is Channel Hopper who just lost his channel due to being inactive as part of a new policy implemented by Youtube.
At 9pm, a Mystery figure pops in through the doors all soaked in rain water and proceeds to sit at the far corner of the bar under a dim light in his trench coat and hat. (Mr.Enter: So this is what it's come to?)
*camera pans over the entire cafe to see more and more reviewers all stuck on what to do next.

- First off, this art rocks! Props to the artist! -

Second, I am not sure why, though it seems mostly on money. The internet can use whatever info it receives to no end, depending on the amount of money one has, as well as hacking into private information. People getting away from this stinks, especially with the money issue, as most companies might just turn a blind eye, in hopes of still being online, but hey I'm no expert on this.
And YouTube channels being shut down? Oh boy now that I could seriously rant on, as it's unfair just what is on the internet, compared to what used to be in many cases.
People can get famous on the internet for doing dumb, dangerous, and cruel things, to others and themselves...and yet they aren't even suspended. Thus not only being horrible role models for kids and pre-teens alike, but basically making stereotypes seem on the internet seem more likely, which it isn't and shouldn't. I won't go any further, as I know others have, and can do better at explaining such channels that deserve to be shut down.

Drawing is well done...though I've never worried about the 'monitization' aspect. I'd very much push edginess to the extreme, South Park Season 1 style. ;) It's also why the Pilot Epic for Myth of the Legendary Warrior had a couple of grizzly moments.

I saw the video and to be honest I really hope you are details on the next ones! As you didn't make any real arguments for net neutrality which needs to happen. Or bring up the fact that both B(the one that was bought for amazing Spiderman ad space can't figure out how to properly spell?) and Ask Jeeves went out of business through bundling in a vast variety of other methods. Or are you saving those for the Google search program?

There is a movement that needs to be more well understood outside of it's roots in the open source communities. That's federation. For all the piles of corporate centralised control, there are now projects working to federate their functionality and bring freedom back. (thanks to ActivityPub etc)

 youtube -> peertube
 twitter -> mastodon.social
 facebook -> diaspora
 deviantart -> mediagoblin
(there are more)

I won't say that all the technical hurdles are worked out with each solution, but the conceptual demand should always remain that we have to take back control of the web from these giants. And the best way to make sure there isn't a single large company, is to federate everything.

Apart from the drama, this looks pretty cool! Nice and sketchy looking.

Also, people are getting demonetized for virtually no reason. The worst part is, we can't move from youtube.
It's basically a monopoly. There's other websites, sure, but with either little following or features crucial to creator's success.

Oh well. Still cool, though.

Wow! I was honestly thinking YouTube's insistence on keeping their biggest liabilities because they have millions upon millions of subscribers and generate more revenue than more earnest content creators. PewDiePie has a video with a sign saying "Death to the Jews" and then shouted the n-word. Now he's promoting notorious alt-right figureheads like Ben Shapiro and other hate groups. But it's everyone else who pays the price, as in the Ad-pocalypse. Then there's Logan Paul... Oh dear fuck! There's lying about being a hateful bigot and then there's being a mentally disturbed lunatic who has no place near a computer or phone in the first place. That video last year should have been the end of Logan Paul's internet career but YouTube just won't get rid of him like any sensible company would.

PewDiePie and Logan Paul having gotten away with disturbing content and we could very much see CinemaSins, WatchMojo or MatPat of Game Theory uploading a video of themselves showing off their penises and masturbating for millions of subscribers, including children, to see. Their place on YouTube would be deleted immediately but since they generate ad revenue and manipulate algorithm systems to their advantage, the people of YouTube will give them a half-assed slap on the wrist and let them get away with it. If a dystopian future happens in which the most toxic personalities are publicly shown in the streets, not just laptop screens and phones, we'll end up seeing PewDiePie literally shitting on the screen for an hour and YouTube will be okay with it be okay with it because he's a cashcow for YouTube.

Sorry for the long rant but I've been wanting to get this off my chest for over a year now and your talk about a dystopian tecnocracy felt right to vent out. Thank you.

And Pewdiepie was making a joke...not a funny one, but he doesn't purposely mean "Death To All Jews" in that video.

And yet it he continued by shouting the n-word, "accidentally" put on an entire KKK uniform, promoting notorious homophobe Ben Shapiro and anti-Semetic YouTube channel E;R. Jokes? Maybe the set up for actual jokes but as jokes themselves, especially in this day and age with political power run by Nazi-scum.

And sorry about calling Ben Shapiro Alt-Right. I mean Alt-Lite. Criticizing your fellow flunkies despite wanting the same thing.

Either way, neither of those fuckheads deserve any platform if they're gonna use them to attack marginalized groups. If your idea of humour is mock children being killed for not being white, then you're just not funny. It's lazy, safe and low-hanging fruit.

Logan Paul should be gone, PewDiePie did nothing wrong, and Ben Shapiro is part of the alt-right.

But Ben Shapiro isn't apart of the alt-right. He's a right-leaning person, yes, but he's not a neo-nazi, neo-fascist, or a white supremacist.

What's the proof of that?

No. It's the right pointing out the left's problem, or rather his problems with the way the left conducts itself. Editorial opinion, not rhetoric.

Is this alt-left rhetoric?

No. It's just a book about the left pointing out the right, or rather his problems with the way the right conducts himself. Editorial opinion, not rhetoric.

I was thinking of Richard Spencer, my bad. But still, those books are obviously heavily biased and intended to demonize the other side. Both examples.

Bingo. I agree. The demonization of both sides isn't going to make it any better, but opposing viewpoints is kind of the way nature is intended to run.

If you think Shapiro is part of the alt-right, you clearly have no idea what the alt-right is, OR, you do know, and because you disagree with him, you want to lump him in with them to discredit him.

Never said he wasn't biased, as he is, since he is after all, a hardline conservative. However, even your examples wouldn't fall under what the alt right is. The alt right is not simply new blood within the conservative base. He isn't a white supremisicist, neo nazi, neo fascist, or part of any of the other far right fringe groups (which are just as bad as the far left ones mind you).

To be clear, he is most certainly biased, but to lump people like him in with the alt right is to dilute what the alt right really is, and it's only doing them a favor. Hell, personally I'm not even particularly fond of him, but if you tell someone who doesn't know any better that he is alt right, then they come to realize that he isn't all that bad, they'll think that the actual alt right can't be that bad either.
