Oh hey look, a Daily Deviation. Now I REALLY have to complete this tutorial, those last two segments are embarrassingly unhelpful.

But well, juggling an animated commission, comic pages, school and then this... wish me luck!

Ran out of time due to various inconvenient reasons, but OH WELL. I also have to leave like... right now.

Anyway, this isn't so much of a tutorial and more like how I go through the drawing process, hoping to give some of you some ideas to adapt to your style.

If you want to see some pretty damn helpful tutorial on photography, prose, drawing, painting and other cool shit, check #DACipher, they just had an upload-fest.

I'LL POST A NOT-SO-CRAPPY UPDATE/DESCRIPTION/PREVIEW IMAGE/EVERYTHING ONCE I GET HOME FROM VISITING KATY.

EDIT

I kind of wrote this in a hurry. Anyway, a few things I'd like to mention:

- Once I get home, I intend to fix a page in the sketching section which states something about "Muscleman". That went to the "stylized anatomy" segment. Also, gotta fix some typos there. fixed

- I will fix the "forward" button at the very end, to allow replay capabilities. Also, the "back" button, which fucks up the whole tutorial. fixed

- I will also add more content at the "drawing and polishing" portion, herpaderp. In fact, I'll completely re-do that drawing.

- This tutorial was hugely influenced by tutorials created by *PhiTuS. They're pretty neat, check them out.

- You'll have to excuse me for using a modified version of this preloader.

- LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANY MORE GLITCHES

- If you have any questions or suggestions, I might even include an EXTRA section.

NEW - okay, this explains some things better than I did, so go check that out.

Daily Deviation

Given 2011-01-24
Cartoon drawing process by `Mrcrapinson. The suggestor said: "Brian Valera, a.k.a. Mr. Crapinson, produced this flash animation for my group #DACipher for our new years release date. Seeing it in it's finished state is nothing short of amazing. He has managed to create create a fun, eye-catching tutorial that is, interactive and flashy while being detailed and informative. It's definitely worth a look for aspiring artists out there who want to venture into different styles and creative processes." ( Suggested by Reaper-X and Featured by Gashu-Monsata )

Now that is truly helpful! You helped quite a lot since it's like Tutorial for Dummies, a
Step-by-Step process via Video is always easy rather than Reading the information.

Thank You :handshake:

that was so much fun :)! I really loved how you treated the tutorial as a piece of flash artwork just as much as you made it a tutorial too! I really like the flip-book style overlay method that you used to explain drawing. :) Also, I really love your designs for your load screen!

This tutorial, as many others have said, is absolutely amazing.
On another note, I respect your music-art connection heavily, and I'm always inspired by music! Your music tastes are also similar to mine in many ways, the music in the tutorial put me in a good mood to listen!
Anyways, just stopping by to say that I really enjoy this, and your art, and this really helps me evolve my own little sketches with my embarrassingly baseless "techniques". I've been looking for something like this to help me get on the right track!

glad you dig it! I wanted to show people that there's a lot more to drawing than just drawing, it's understanding what you want!

Also, if you'd like, I can send you a download for my current playlist 8-)

Amazing tips and even more amazing the interface, the audio "volume down" instead of simple "on/off" is very interesting! One constructive critique for future interface, if you turn off the audio in one "submenu" it should keep turned off unless you say the opossite.
Congratulations for the DD and thank you for the useful tips!

I considered that, but I made the mistake of accidentally making the static sound in between the sections a bit too loud, so the sound had to be modified and reset every time WHOOPS.

But I'm glad you found this useful!

... T__T I love the music. You have such a great taste. Already loved the tutorial before I even started it.
Thank-you so much for going so much in depth on.. everything. Especially with the muscles, one of my weakest points. <3 This is beyond helpful, and even inspiring. I haven't drawn in half a year, and I feel like working on a few sketches right now because of this. :D

Yeah, I focused on developing how muscles look after seeing the difference it could make even in simple drawings.

Also, this music is my life

I'm sorry, but this. THIS is an excellently, creatively, mindbogglingly (and here comes the thumbsucked adjectives) streamlinedly, user-friendidly, BWHOADAYUMN-edly, to-be-proud-edly well crafted, clear, concise tutorial, very attractively constructed and thoroughly exploring the task at hand, can't wait to see what else you're going to add. :3
Great job, and thanks for the tips, I've never gone about my art that way, but this should make it easier, and help me avoid making noobish mistakes with my composition and last-minute-chop-and-change impulses!

Now to scurry off, finish art and get inspired!

Definantly, especially after giving working with interactive flash a try myself (through means of a buggy flash catalyst), this intricate design enthralls me to no end... @w@ *keeps staring*

And in all honesty, I just love when music properly compliments the design and movement. XD

I take the relationship between music and visual art very seriously, it's become my passion. If you go through some of my latest and featured deviations, you'll notice that a lot of them have a music track in the description.

Also, once you figure out how a basic action works in flash, it's pretty easy to do stuff like this, it just takes a looooot of patience.

Wow... wow...WOW!!! Most of the time one ask 'why does this get a DD again?' In this case is totally deserved. What amazing tutorial! Very simple in it's concepts but very full of them, funny and easy to understand. And your work in the flash is amazing too. Do you have a tutorial of flash? I'm going to find out :)

Awesome tutorial! The animation and music is smooth and swell. The design of the whole thing is cool! I love the menu screen myself.

The content's great! The 'Sketching' and 'Composition' parts were extra helpful for me.

There's a glitch at the composition part, I think. The beginning layout with the circle arrangement. When I try to click the menu button, it won't send me back to the menu and I have to skip to the next layout, the one arranged with the rectangle and the buttons at the bottom to get the menu button to work. Strangely enough, the last slide before it switches to the rectangular layout, the menu button mysteriously works again for that one slide.

Nitpick at one of the Sketch slides. Under Dynamic Poses, the slide where you state your rule "never draw the moment impact", you misspelled a word: 'braking' instead of 'breaking'.

Cheers!
