Solve the first part of the puzzle 😏
TL;DR at the bottom
Ever since the update, it has been absolutely impossible to find the art that I would like to find. As I see it, the current search system matches anything that at least remotely relates to what is searched, returning even the most specific of searches, terms, or even just nonsense with thousands of results. This creates a results pool with plenty of “filler” art, while art that may fit what you’re actually searching amongst it; rarely do I find it at the top of the list.
The old search system was much better in my opinion; it simply matched search terms with a term in the title, description, or tags of a deviation and returned anything that matched. This cut out a lot of filler - and frustration from fruitless scrolling - and made searching for specific art or browsing in a category much easier.
Tags were made easier as well; now, combining multiple tags (by typing “#” followed by a term) doesn’t return deviations that are only tagged with those tags, but will instead follow few of those tags, if any at all. This restricts deviations to being viewed by tag to only one tag a time; tags cannot be combined in a search effectively. The old search system matched tags; simple as that. If a deviation had the tags you searched for, it popped up. This also rewards deviants that take the time to tag their art correctly.
TL;DR: All this to say that the old search system was faster, easier to use and understand, and more efficient; it helped users find the art they want to, it helped deserving deviants get their content out, and it was over all better. I think that bringing it back or at least restoring it in the form of a search setting to be toggled on or off would be taking DA in the right direction. Please repost and share this, and most importantly, submit a ticket to DA to ask to get this changed. Refer them to this if you’d like. Thank you. :)
