A few weeks ago I joined Velan Studios as their new Art Director. For me, this is an incredibly unique opportunity, representing many of the career goals I've been finding that I have. I say "finding" because these goals have changed over the past 11+ years of my career. I've learned a lot about what I'm happiest doing, what unique attributes and skills I bring to teams, and what places I'm excited to live in. Such a new feeling to be experiencing all of this for the first time.
Of course, everything is still early but this is my fifth studio and I am not seeing any of the typical problems that I have experience in the past. At Velan, it is part of my job to hire and maintain the art department AND be a part of cultivating the studio culture. Creating safe, creative spaces where artists can thrive is one of my passions and I'm so excited to be partnering with a studio that is eager to support me in doing that. Whew, wish me luck as I dig into all of this.

New Interview!
Myself and a fellow director were recently interviewed for the Legendary: Backstory blog. Last year I had the opportunity to design and pitch a VR comic experience to Legendary Film's digital media department. The project recently dropped onto the Gear store and we got to say a few words about it all. I'm super proud of this project and the team I worked with to build it out! - Ben

The Nullpoint Kickstarter!!
A team here at Schell Games has been diligently working on a new IP. I was involved in developing the initial prototype but have since been moved to other projects. I can say though that The Nullpoint is a sweet little horror game that increases the tension by causing you to make choices on the fly. Inktober and Instagram
Three days in and going strong. Last year I was only able to make ten entries before Having to drop out but I'm approaching differently this year and work isn't nearly as demanding right now.
