BO train- The Columbia Limited by mrbill6ishere BO train- The Columbia Limited by mrbill6ishere
In the 1920s, the Baltimore and Ohio felt discontent with its current mainline route from Washington to Chicago. The solution came when they observed the Southern's Crescent. Which used A&WP/ L&N tracks from Atlanta to New Orleans, but SOU tracks from Atlanta to DC.

Eventually, the B&O was able to work it out with the NYC. The B&O would get to use the Water Level Route from Cleveland to Gary, Indiana. With stations at all the NYC trains stops.

The eventual result was the creation of the Columbia Limited. Which served the same route of the Capitol Limited until going to Cleveland from Akron, then going over NYC tracks from Cleveland to Gary, IN.
