Latin name: Pterois Volitans
Originates from the Indo-Pacific region.
Current status: Least Concern
Did you know:
…The Red Lionfish is venomous, courtesy of the large spines protruding from the body.
…Their spines have the appearance of a mane, and because of their position on the body, they are inedible to most other Fish or at least, a difficult prey.
…They reproduce monthly, and are able to disperse easily and quickly during their larval stage.
…All of their traits and habits combined make it so they are quite abundant and have become an invasive species in some region.
