…It has several synonyms in Latin, namely Falco Migrans, Milvus Affinus, Milvus Ater and Milvus Melanotis.
…The Black Kite knows five subspecies: the Common or European Black Kite, the Black-Eared Kite, theSmall Indian (formerly Pariah) Kite, the Fork-Tailed Kite and the Taiwan Kite.
…The Yellow-Billed Kite was long considered a subspecies as well, but DNA has shown that they should be viewed as a separate allopatric species.
…It can be distinguished from the Red Kite by its slightly smaller size, its less forked tail as visible in flight, and its generally dark plumage without any rufous.
