In this picture, he's just at the joey stage where he's beginning to be at ease outside of his momma's pouch. He's still very skinny and frail-looking, and vulnerable in a way that made him stick close to his mom instead of straying as he did a month later.
The original photo was a bit askew, so we righted the frame which led to mom's ear being cut off just a bit. Still, the mother-child moment is too sweet not to share

Latin name: Macropus parma

Originates from New South Wales, Australia

Current status: Near Threatened

Did you know:

.. In the Nineteenth century it was believed the Parma Wallaby was extinct, but in 1965 and 1967 wild populations were found and captured for breeding/preservation purposes. Now the Parma Wallaby is not common, but not extinct either.
