Description
A rare turquoise Cthulhu Cult mosaic mask 1450-1525 from Mexico. The exotic gems and materials used to make this mask were all procured from the farthest reaches
of the Mexica empire and beyond, emphasizing the divine ‘other-worldly’ nature both of the mosaic and whoever wore it.
"Recovered from an unearthed chamber beneath an ancient burned temple in an undisclosed area of Mexican wilderness. Believed to have been created sometime between 1450 and 1525 AD. Mythos scholars believe this mask to belong to one of the earliest known Cthulhu Cults of South America. While many shards of pottery, pieces of masks, and human remains were uncovered in the temple chamber, this represents the only complete find of an artifact such as this in Mythos history.
Rumors abound concerning this mosaic mask and its connections with the Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortés and the massacring of thousands of unarmed Aztecs in the city of Tenochtitlan. Many believe the mystic energies present in the mask aided Cortés in his campaigns in the New World, while others theorize it was the power of the mask that prevented the Cthulhu Cult from meeting the same fate as those of the Aztecs. Either way, this particular sect of Cthulhu Worshippers has since gone extinct and all remnants of their temple burned and erased from the earth."
More information and more artifacts from this Aztec excavation are forthcoming...
