Description

The year was 1969, and the war was over.

Beginning in late-1962 following the bombing of three American planes over East Germany, the conflict that would later come to be known as the Third World War expanded over the following six-and-a-half years to include most of the worlds nations. Pitted as a fight between the free democratic west and the totalitarian communist east, this conflict would forever change the course of human history as over 200 million men, woman and children died as a direct result of the war; many (some scholars believing almost a quarter) burning in the fires of atomic warfare. From Cuba in the Caribbean to Korea in East Asia, war plagued its way across all continents on Earth during this period with numerous forms of warfare begin utilized by both belligerent alliances. As conventional war reigned in Europe and China, guerilla warfare reaped terrible tolls in Cuba, South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia; all whilst rockets tipped with nuclear warheads fell over the sky at speeds greater than that of sound.

By the end of the 20th centuries largest war, the world was left as broken husk; an empty shell that was once filled with gunpowder and atomic explosives. Fidel Castro, Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong were all dead; and 'Comrade' Molotov, the brutal dictator of the former Soviet Union, was in custody (only to commit suicide shortly thereafter). Communism, Karl Marx's great legacy, was discredited by the bones of those that had fought both for and against it, and what was left was a world was now dominated by a single, albeit bloodied superpower; the United States of America.

What the future could have held for the USA's New World Order (a term coined by outgoing President, Richard Nixon) could never have been known during those few, joyous, yet melancholic days following the June Armistice of '69, although one thing, at least, was for certain…

…the world would never be the same again.
